Ozzfest is over? Thats odd considering its in the middle of its Worldwide tour right now in which almost every date has sold out already. Not to mention it is supposed to be running again next year. And white trash festival? Your are a pompus c*nt if you think that. Myself and a lot of other metal fans go because there is a shortage of good metal festivals in this area. I wasnt aware that being a fan of Black Sabbath, Ozzy, Rob Halford, Judas Priest, Motley Crue, and BLS was something to be ashamed of.

I'm ok with him as a guitar player, but I refute claims that he's a "guitar god' or even a frontman for that matter.
The man nailed countless Sabbath and Ozzy tunes for years while touring with Ozzy and you consider that all "pick-squealing"? Id like to see how many of your favorite guitarists nail Tony Iommi's sound, play all of Ozzy's classics, and make quite a few records of there own year after year. Not to mention the man is a fantastic rhythm player who constantly is involving the fans in his playing and shows.

I dont want to be mean here but you leave me now choice. Your argument is at best weak, and you back up nothing with any live experience or validity. You may not like the man but he is a phenomenally skilled guitarist. I dont feel like you even understand what pinch harmonics are and how many notirious metal guitarists have implemented them strongly into there playing.

ps. You started the Them Crooked Vultures thread on this forum, which is funny because Josh Homme has stated many times one of his biggest influences is Ozzy/Sabbath. So in review of this all...you fail.

Dude, no doubt Zak kicks ass, but you got to admit he's got the highest squealing ratio of any shredder out their. Some ears get so annoyed at the pinching they're distracted a miss out on his occassionally brilliant geetar licks.

You're right Rezz, I mean, what was I thinking... having an opinion? I must have been out of my mind, I assure you, it WILL NOT happen again. You have my word on that.

Now let's examine Wylde's "rendition" of Crazy Train. Let's just observe how he plays Randy Rhoads' part "perfectly". Now, let's ignore the ****ing pick squeel every 5th note (which occurs throughout the whole ****ing song), and how he puts the song off tempo AT LEAST 3 times with his ****ing ridiculous over-use of the ****ing thing. Also, observe the solo, and how it's played 1/2 as fast and twice as sloppy as Rhoads' version (it takes a lot of hard work to botch a classic solo that bad).

(also, watch closely, as this is one of the few times you will see titties on youtube)

Let me set the record straight. I'm a HUGE Sabbath fan, and NO ONE mimics, or even comes close to Iommi's sound. Bottom line is, Wylde may be a decent guitar player (which I made clear a few posts back, if you take the time to read), but he by far the worst guitarist Ozzy has ever played with for an extended period of time. Iommi, Rhoads, and ****, even Jake E. Lee are all light-years ahead of Wylde... and I assume that will be the case for some time to come.

As far as Ozzfest, and Zakk Wylde's "festival" goes... Don't get all butt-hurt because I, and everyone else who has eyes considers it white-trash. I consider myself white trash, I like most of those bands. Don't cry about it, embrace it, and continue to rock the **** out. But honestly, I heard this was going to be Ozzfest's last year (something we hear every year for the last 5 years straight).

In conclusion, I would like to sincerely apologize again for both having an opinion on the matter, and stating in the appropriate thread of discussion. It will not happen again, I swear.

Ok so, another great one I like.

Now, lets see Zakk do the slow version of that first solo, so all the kids at home can follow along on their Squire's. Although, it's pretty sloppy, so good luck picking out the notes. I like the whole "I'll just play the fast part and half speed, no one will notice" approach here, it's pretty bold.

Now, let's see the big boy version.

Wow, one of these guys has dynamics in their style...

I think your missing my point. Sure he does it often but to not pay attention to anything else the man plays is beyond me. And yes I agree that he doesn't come close to Rhoads/Lee/Iommi but not many do.

And im confused as to why you call yourself white trash. Do you make minimum wage and spend money on big screen TV's while neglecting your kids? For the record there was no crying about it, just stating the fact that a lot of metal fans who go to Ozzfest are not living in a trailer park while taking there kids lunch money to buy another 40 oz.

By all means have an opinion just back it up and explain instead of just throwing out blanket statements.

I think what most miss about Zack's talent, is his dynamics on guitar, he has produced some of the best and strongest 'walls of guitars' in recording, there's really not anyone like him and he doesnt resemble anyone else's style, (in my opinion), I guess you either hear it or you dont, I agree he is at his best with Ozzy, and dont see Ozzy with a different guitar player other than Zack Wylde, unless its Jake E. Lee, who I thought did very well with the band Badlands

Its surprising how this band even got its own thread on here! When I think Black Label Society I think monotonous and repetitive metal, that has me bored senseless after 2 or 3 songs and a headache after 5 or 6 songs. Even to this day, I struggle to listen a complete album by this band..........FFS they sound like Godsmack!

Zack Wylde just doesn`t have the talent to front a band, and he`s best staying as one of Ozzy`s hired guns.

Theres alot of bands & albums that I cant stand to listen to more than three or four songs at any one given time, as the same with BLS.
It would be good material for a young cover band, starting out to cover, it doesnt take a great vocalist to cover Wylde on vocals.
A band like Black Label Society is more "effects" than anything else, studio work, In my opinion, Zacks heavy guitar work is awesome (recorded).
I will say that I wasnt very impressed with drummer, espeacially anything slow, the drums sounded weak and detached.

I remember their debut album had a southern rock influence to it, which is something I normally like......not that it was any good though, as they`re certainly no Corrosion of Conformity!

Black Label Society seemed to have borrowed off a variety of great bands as distinct as Clutch and Pantera, to create a generic and mundane sound, with the formula slow song chucked in for good measure.

Randy Rhoads was more versatile, but I've seldom seen a guitarist who can shred pentatonics like Zakk can, and as clean as Zakk can. Plus if you watch his chicken pickin' and bluesy stuff, you'll gain a bit more respect for him. Plus that vid you posted was in 89, he's obviously improved leaps and bounds over time.

He's freakishly fast and proficient in the stuff he specializes in and plays with a lot of old school feel.
