Favorite doom band is probably Witchfinder General. Some others include Candlemass,Pentagram,Katatonia,Electric Wizard,Novemvers Doom, and the list goes on and on.

One thats been catching my attention lately is Ghost. Their debut Opus Eponymous was great.

The lyrical content is, however, not exactly uplifting so I was wondering if I was just the weird one by saying that it makes me very happy listening to people singing about their problems, whether is be loneliness, fear, rejection or someone's soul being crushed by a loved one.
I don't care too much for the lyrics in most doom but there is the good set of stoner songs out there where the slow musical journey ties in bloody awesomely with songs about monolithic mushrooms blacking out the sun and so on. I don't smoke pot often at all but I love that music and can imagine how great it must sound should you be high as a kite at the time.

Electric Wizard still are my favourite of the lot.

Definately one of my favourite genres. Acid Bath, Sadness, Novembre, Cirith Ungol and Katatonia and Palpatine Rising are just some of my favourites

I wouldn't call Acid Bath doom at all. I'd call em sludge which is what they are generally considered.

Saint Vitus and Electric Wizard and of course Black Sabbath.

Doom isn't depressing or makes you angry or fucked-up.

It's a bit like ambient music only with low slow riffs.

Black metal does fuck one's mood up. Grindcore makes me angry. Death metal makes me think.

I have never felt like that with any genre, f@HHed up that is.
Majority of music makes me very happy. I still find pop rather boring and some cases, depressed =\
