awesome band, love coheed. but only really heard of them through all of the hype about them when good apollo' came out so havnt heard much of their older stuff so will have to go on a beef of a downloading spree!! :)

Kripes 05-01-2006 08:20 PM

Get the following songs if you haven't gotten anything yet:

In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth
Everything Evil
Three Evils (Embodied In Love and Shadow)
Hearshot Disaster Kid
Time Consumer

PerFeCTioNThrUSileNCe 05-01-2006 08:30 PM

^add to that "Dellirium Trigger". That has to be my favorite Coheed song of all time.

If anyone's got the album with that on it....it would be much appreciated.

Laces Out Dan! 05-01-2006 10:14 PM

Dellerium trigger is the coolest song..i also really like The Crowing

Kripes 05-02-2006 02:18 PM

The Crowing is one of the best songs off of IKSoSE.

ArmyofMe 05-02-2006 03:04 PM

I like most of there songs but I dont think there awesome, just another good band.

riseagainstrocks 05-02-2006 06:58 PM

I know it's been said before but Welcome Home is sheer genius. That song made me like that band, after that, I simply fell for them

IamAlejo 05-02-2006 07:46 PM

I've grown into liking this cd. I originally hated it.

Laces Out Dan! 05-03-2006 09:02 PM

Which one...Good Apollo?

Kripes 05-07-2006 12:12 AM

He probably is talking about Good Apollo. I don't really see the others as being growers, but Good Apollo is.

Kripes 06-25-2006 12:17 AM

I don't post on the site and what happens? No one shows love for Coheed! :bringit:

Laces Out Dan! 06-25-2006 12:29 AM

I know..and im the creator...i feel sad

bungalow 06-25-2006 12:31 AM

God is the creator you heretic.

The Dave 06-25-2006 12:33 AM

Lol

I like old Coheed stuff, basically all the albums before the song Favor HOuse came out. Good Apollo and Kepping Secrets just suck, the majority of the songs sound the same and they just get old way too fast.

Laces Out Dan! 06-25-2006 12:35 AM

Weird...thats my favourite album..and Second Stage Turbine blade is my least favourite...

Kripes 06-25-2006 12:37 AM

They changed definitely. SSTB showed quite a bit of post hardcore elements, but the last two haven't at all. I still think SSTB and GAIBS4 are both tied for best.

The Dave 06-25-2006 12:37 AM

Second Stage is probably my favorite, the songs just had more variety and it didn't seem like the same song playing for 55 minutes. The only redeeming factor on Good Apollo is Welcome Home, imo.

Kripes 06-25-2006 12:39 AM

It was heavy in the start, then got poppy, then got prog near the end. \m/

The Dave 06-25-2006 12:41 AM

Heavy at first? It starts off all acousticy, I dare say that I heard the sound of a baby cooing in either the first or second song, then for one song it was heavy (welcome home) then it got poppy for 11 songs with very little prog, and all those 11 songs sounded alike.

Kripes 06-25-2006 12:45 AM

 Yes, it starts out acoustic after the intro, but there's a feeling of dispair as well. Then it bangs out "Welcome Home" and "Ten Speed (Of Gods Blood And Burial)". I could go into a whole essay on the thing, but I've already written reviews and it's 2 in the morning and I'm beat.

The Dave 06-25-2006 12:47 AM

Lol, okay, i'll just stick to the fact that they sounded better when they where post hxc.

Laces Out Dan! 06-25-2006 12:47 AM

They were never Post Hardcore

Kripes 06-25-2006 12:48 AM

Well, for me post hardcore is a grand, grand thing, so it's no problem.

Edit: but yeah, they aren't post hardcore, but just showed elements

Raine 06-25-2006 12:48 AM

i recently saw Coheed & Cambria live a few weeks ago with Avenged Sevenfold
I was mildly disappointed. They just aren't too great live in my opinion.
I lik their song Welcome Home (I think it's called) though both the live version and the album version.

Laces Out Dan! 06-25-2006 12:49 AM

And hardly that....they have on shit of a screamer who makes the occasional appearance
EDIT: For Kripes' post

Kripes 06-25-2006 12:51 AM

There's post-hardcore bands who don't scream a lot. Look at Hopesfall. They used to scream, but don't really anymore. They still qualify as post hardcore though.

Laces Out Dan! 06-25-2006 12:53 AM

That may be true...but CO&CA are far from post-hardcore

Kripes 06-25-2006 12:55 AM

Yeah, I know. They just showed slight elements on SSTB, slight, after that it's all gone.

Laces Out Dan! 06-25-2006 12:56 AM

For the most part

Coheed & Cambria - Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV

http://images.bol.de/06/94/45/06944577_b003.jpg

1. Keeping the Blade
2. Always & Never
3. Welcome Home
4. Ten Speed (Of God's Blood & Burial)
5. Crossing the Frame
6. Apollo I : The Writing Writer
7. Once Upon Your Dead Body
8. Wake Up
9. Suffering
10. Lying Lies & Dirty Secrets of Miss Erica Court
11. Mother May I
12. Willing Well I: Fuel for the Feeding End
13. Willing Well II: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness
14. Willing Well III: Apollo II: The Telling Truth
15. Willing Well IV: The Final Cut

It took me so long to get into this album (and band for that matter) but now, I can't believe I ever didn't like this cd. Not only is the music interesting and progressive, but the lyrics and harmonies are astounding as well. Well composed and executed, Good Apollo is definitly Coheed&Cambria's swan song.

jessica x3 07-13-2006 12:28 PM

i love this CD. there are a lot of really good songs on it.

i know about 4 couples who claim the song Wake Up though.. that kind of annoys me.

but over all, i'd give it 4/5 stars. lol

Kripes 07-13-2006 03:21 PM

 I should have done this. I'll start doing stuff like this.

This album is seriously one of the best ever. Buy it.

one_more_atrocity 07-13-2006 03:45 PM

when i first heard coheed i hated them, but i have to say after i gave the album a listen it is awesome, my fav song would probably be Apollo I : The Writing Writer, i also love the artwork, and if you have any of their albums you know what i mean, their other albums are also really good although i agree burning star IV is their best their others are worth getting. their graphic novels that go with all their songs and other work are also really good and i think its clever how they make it all work and come together and incorporate it into all of their work.

Have I seen this thread somewhere before? lawlz

Laces Out Dan! 07-13-2006 08:13 PM

This is an amazing album...its got some good progressive stuff..

Willing Well I: Fuel for the Feeding End has the most amazing bass lines...its soo awsome

Strummer521 07-13-2006 09:52 PM

I bought this on a whim after hearing the wonderfull twin-guitar work on "Ten Speed (Of God's Blood & Burial)" and immediately found that it fell into the delightfully pretentious camp (much like Rush who they happen to imitate). I just let myself go and bang my head a bit. I just wish they didn't try to make concept albums, because their lyrics are juvenile and only comprehensible if you've read what I'm sure must be a lame graphic novel. Pretension doesn't work as well in other mediums as it does in music.

Not everybodies band.

But I'm amused that everyone that does hate C&C always has Modest Mouse in their top 5, so I make it my goal to piss them off as much as humanly possible.
