One of the great underrated guitar solos of all time, Larry Carlton playing on the Crusaders song "Spiral".

Dream Theater - Hollow Years (Budokan version) around 4:38

Mind = blown

These are ones that come to mind.
  • Matt Pike's first solo in Dopesmoker
  • Pretty much every solo Slayer solo from Jeff Hanneman. (King's solos are weird)
  • "Bitterness and Hatred" - Dream Death
  • Both solos in "Blackened"
  • Exhorder had some ****ing awesome solos.
  • That huge one by Mustaine at the end of "Holy Wars", and "Five Magics". Mustaine turns into Jesus for those two.
  • "Nothing Else Matters"

George Harrison's on Something always struck me for how amazingly melodic and simple it is.

Or how about Fripp's on St Elmo's Fire off of Another Green World?

Love that solo at the end of the track because of how unique it is. It's also got a lot of emotion to it, even if it's kind of an ugly emotion (appropriate for a song about eating an embassy cat as a last resort and considering moving on to the janitor next).
