I really couldn't as I have about as much musical talent as a rusty spoon, but I guess that peoples lives would be very different. We would probably have no 'revolutions', just look what happened in the 60's, and that culture was based around music.

Not at all! I've tried the synthetic ones, their crapulishious. But if you're yet to learn, get a hardwood single. Redwood or oak, it'd be like learning the acoustic guitar first. After that you can play anything, it's harder to start from the bottom.
