Default Blast From The Past

I was listening to The Nymphs earlier

You must remember them , the band fronted by Inger Lorre in the early 90s...

Famous for pissing over Geffen Records A&R man Tom Zuzant`s desk when he refused to put her album for 2 years , eating live maggots in her videos & generally giving Courtney Love a lesson in how to be a real bitch (In fact she was stalked by Courntey at their gigs with her demanding to be her friend )

Shame that her drug use spiralled out of control , The Nymphs were a million times better than most of the other female fronted bands around at the time like Hole , L7 and all those shitty riot grrl bands that plagued the music industry at the time.

I just found out that apparently she was working with Jeff Buckley on his 2nd album before he died.Never saw that one coming.

Anyway , someone must remember them.

I have heard about the antics but not the music as of yet. Lorre reminds me of a tamer women version of GG Allin.

I Totally remember them. SO 90s in that anarchy female kinda way. I miss those days like mad. Girl music now has gone back to soulful and frilly. No edge. I miss our crazy X generation and our genuine angst.

Also, the reason I really wanted to reply is to say she was not better than L7 as they legendarily kick Azz and the riot grrl movement was AWESOME. That movement was aimed at empowering females anyway so who cares if you thought they were a plague.

That being said, thanks for bringing The Nymphs up because you seem to be the only person on pages and pages of google that has ever mentioned their existence when I was trying to remember.

since you seem to be pretty familiar do you remember if "sad and damned" was the only video that was put out for airplay? I seem to remember a different video they played to death on indie video shows in los angeles area. I could swear there is yet a different song and video where she was eating maggots but "sad and damned" is the only one I'm finding online. Since you say she was known for "eating maggots in her videos" that sounds plural so I thought I'd ask.

just to clarify it's halloween time and i'm searching the memory banks to find halloweeny music vids and that's what prompted me to find The Nymphs ones in the first place. i remember reading they asked her about eating them in an interview somewhere and she said they were lab produced so she wasn't freaked about it.

Pretty disgusting but definately the antics of a pioneer.
