Major Bump.

Listening to the album Dream Evil now. I should turn it off right now it's so corny but I can't. Dio are one of the few genuine 'Metal' bands that have stayed true to their roots in giving us cliched ridden lyrics and re-hashed Metal riffs.

Not that I care I still think they are great.

At last, Heavy metal was grapsed:

I don't think they are that bad, I have a couple of their songs. They are nothing special, I like Ronnie's work better with Rainbow and Sabbath.

I still adore Dio.

I am seeing Heaven and Hell in June which is half Dio and Half Black Sabbath. Cannot wait to see these legends perform even if the music is cliched!

Virtually all of the bands on the bill wouldn't be there if it wasn't for these guys.

I've been tempted to download the stuff he did with Elf.
Never actually heard them before.

Same here. Never heard a single thing but I'm pretty sure it was average blues tinged rock with a bit of oomph but when has that description stopped me?

Well I know that the first Rainbow album was basically Elf with Richie Blackmore on guitar.
So I guess they would sound a bit like that without all of Blackmore's ego wankery.

Which actually makes them sound more appealing

Yeah the first Rainbow album was essentially Elf until he decided to get rid of them for the 2nd album. The fool.

How have I missed this thread?? Dio freaking rocks! Doesn't matter when, he still rocks. Although I like his newer stuff a little bit better. But it all still rocks either way. Dio Forever!
