It's no different to the amount of drop outs there would have been in the 60's 70's 80's 90's etc etc.

And there are a great deal of bands who have been around for over 10 years now.

Anyway, rephrased:

Present bands have not shown any longevity. Bands like The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and The Cure have stood the test of time, thus older music is better.
