Behave yourselves or else

I think we need a link to the "Preventing the Spread of Fanboyism" thread in here.

I didn't write them off from the outset. My whole reason for asking for input was to avoid simply writing them off. I hadn't been impressed by what I had heard by them in the past but I had also kept reading a lot of good things about them. So I was trying to get some feedback on what I should give a listen to because I thought maybe I just hadn't heard the right stuff.

Ok, I would suggest listening to their first album and work your way from there.

And I thought I was a giant fanboy of SOAD...

You are, because there was clearly no way anyone could change your mind about them. You haven't liked anything you heard by them so far, people have posted their favorite songs and you wrote those off too. Time well spent? I don't think so.

Well obviously you have, and you don't like it. Time to move on I think.

Not true at all. I'm more than happy to change my opinion of a band based on hearing something by them that I hadn't heard before and I have done so on many occasions.

So it's only worthwhile to play new music for people if those people wind up loving it?

Thanks. I'll try and give it a listen when I have a chance.

Yes. Only I was referring to people who have already heard the music and didn't like any of it. Further exploration is usually recommended when you show at least some interest for their work.
