A Few Lesser Known Bands..

Lately I've been listening to a few songs by some lesser known bands.. I was just wondering how many of you guys knew of them and what you think of them.

First off is a band called 'The Double'.. a pretty unique band in that they like to use lots of organs and ambient effects in their songs. The two songs I've been listening to alot are 'Idiocy' and 'Icy'.

Second, a band that shouldn't really be considered lesser known, 'Interpol'. Their song called 'Evil' really caught my ear and I haven't been able to turn it off lately..

And lastly, a young group called The Fall of Troy. Their music is very upbeat and loud. 'FCPRemix' is a very catchy radio-like song that I've been listening to alot..

Discuss?

None of those are lesser known, the fall of troy own though.

Well, I guess it's because I'm in Canada and these guys get no airtime.

Er, you do realize this is a music forum? We're not the oblivious general public. I know for a fact that Interpol and TFoT have been mentioned on MTV. Sorry to dissapoint you but you're not really listening to anything that obscure.

I think you guys are missing the point. I just want to discuss the bands. Not have you guys flame me about whether you know about the bands or not. I had never heard of them. That's all.

so when lets say someone here randomly here's a band thats been on the go in the us for about 5 or 6 years..then thats awesome that someone has heard it.. because we don't get the chances that you guys have to hear stuff on tv and radio as you guys do there.. Whats mainstrem there might be seem underground there. MuchMusic is all we really have for a music channel, and all out radio stations pretty much play is classic rock and 90's rock. The only way to hear about new or some old bands here is to find them on the internet, or if we go to some punk concert.

Precisely. Some people still fail to realize that a band's exposure in one country is never the same as its exposure in another. These bands are all under a microscope in the U.S because that's where they originated. Quite frankly only a minimal percentage of people in Canada have even heard of 'The Double'. Numbers might be slightly larger for 'Interpol' and 'The Fall of Troy' but not by much.

Here's the thing we're using the same internet. I don't find my music through radio or t.v. so I have no leg up on you.

That's kind of weird? Usually I'd hear one song from a band on TV or radio and then search for other songs by that band on the internet. How do you discover bands on the internet? He said she said?

Purevolume. Myspace. Launch. Label sites. A lot of music forums. And yea I ask for recommendations.
