About Colour Haze:
Quote:

Born within the years 1968 1974 some of the musicians played much in bands before, some less, some lived on making music. Contemporary Record Store Section: Stonerrock Colour Haze are a modern Psychedelic (in the words sense) Heavy Rock Three Piece, in the tradition of classic Rock-Trios as Cream, The Jimi Hendrix Experience or Grand Funk Railroad. Founded somewhen in the last century, the current line-up consists since May 1999. Since then some records have been made and a lot of following was gained. Originating from Muenchen, Germany, the group did a lot of shows nationwide and in Belgium, Holland and Austria. Soon Colour Haze established themselves among the finest groups of Germanys underground scene and are said to be one of the most outstanding current Rock-Ensembles in Europe
Thats a pretty vague description I've decided. Basically, go to the website, look at their influences, listen to the music, and come away impressed.

Some seriously beautiful musicianship going on here. Listen to it!!!!!!

As they are a German band my best mate has seen them a few times and the last time (a couple of months back) cost him the princely sun of 2 euros! He did get me a band T shirt though :)

Thats really lucky, especially for him. I have been looking for there shirt for awhile. Also for there tabs, which seem to be IMPOSSIBLE to find. I can not find what tuning he uses.

I could certainly get my man in Germany to have a root around for you. I might even be able get to see them when I go over their in 2010 if we can time it right. Phenomenal band.

That would be the best thing to happen to me all year. So far Iv only found 1 bootleg that wasnt sound boarded, just terrible quality. And if you go you better get a killer picture.

Laces Out Dan! 11-11-2009 09:08 PM

I really havent listened to them in probably a year or so now, but they're awesome. All I have on my computer is Tempel.

I just did. Kind of a hybrid of sound. Almost Floyd-ish with the soft notes and dynamics. The guitar work leans more towards Zappa-ish, dude has a crazy tone. 18 minutes lends itself to many different interludes and measures. Quite different thanks for posting about it.

It is definitly one of those albums you need to be relaxed and sit back listening to it in one sitting. You mentioned Pink Floyd, I always felt albums like Animals were recorded the same way. I cant imagine listening to one song of it, would just be strange and ruin the experience.

djchameleon 03-21-2013 09:15 PM

I have to check this album out. I remember you rec'ing one of their earlier albums that I ended up enjoying

jackhammer 03-30-2013 08:09 PM

One of my German friends caught them live last month and they played for 3 hours straight! Cost him around 5 euros to see them. In pounds that's 3.50 and in dollars it's about 2.20!

They have day jobs too so I have heard and have rarely played outside of their native Germany. A damn shame as they ridiculously good.

varunr93 03-31-2013 02:35 AM

wow cool

kealyboy 04-27-2013 03:09 PM

They produce similar emotions/atmospheres

Someone can't see the wood for the trees?

Tool are musically nothing like Pink Floyd yet in atmosphere incredibly similar...
