Who has the best scream in metal?

Um, don't you mean Max Cavalera? Thought I swore that that was the frontman/singer for Sepultura...?

Oh, wait. Just read that Derrick Green joined in '97 after Max left. I have only heard Beneath the Remains and Arise. Haven't gotten that far yet.

I can't really decide, so I'll post some that stand out to me.

I really like Hat's high pitched screams on Gorgoroth's debut album. I like both eras of Chuck Schuldiner's screams (lower pitch earlier, and higher pitch later) I'm a fan of Proscriptor McGovern's screams, as well as Erik Grawsio's, both of whom are singer/drummers, or at least Erik used to be. As for women who can scream well, I'm a big fan of Dr. Mikannibal from the band Sigh. I'm also a fan of Sakis Tolis, Pierre-Aleksandr Plessix, and Jari Maenpaa among others.

It's not really metal, but Child in Time has the most awesome screaming i've ever heard

My vote goes to Jon Chang of Gridlink, Hayaino Daisuki and Discordance Axis. That man can scream like a motherfucker.

I'm gonna have to be 'That guy' and say Rob Halford. If he hadn't brought that particular scream to life, a lot of the music I listen to would not have that particular influence, and my world would be gray.

Overall I tend to be more of a growl fan and definitely prefer clean vocals so don't have too much to say, but honorable mentions go to-

Eric Wagner (Trouble)
Alan Dubin (Khanate)
Dawn Crosby (Fear of God)
Dani Filth (Cradle of Filth)

I seem to remember not particularly liking Gridlink, which isn't a surprise given my general indifference to any kind of grindcore after the early nineties, but a shorter album can be awesome. Any album after thirty minutes starts to give my brain fatigue if I'm gonna sit down and listen to the whole thing. Plenty of albums that break this rule for me, but in general I like an album to be shorter. I legitimately like Deep Purple even more just because they've released thirty minute albums with only seven songs on them. Easy to digest in one sitting. So a ten minute album is fine by me.
