What's Happening?!?

OKay, i wanna know whats happening to our MUSIC!?!? Me, being a huge Metallica fan know that St. Anger wasnt so great...but lets hope for betetr this time around!(late summer, early fall) Oh, and what about Green Day? I mean I've never been a huge fan of them...but what the heck happened with that whole "American Idiot" thing? And another band...AFI? WHat is with this...?? WHat do you guys think?

adidasss 02-02-2007 08:28 AM

I think you're a bit strung out.

QueenNothing 02-02-2007 09:34 AM

How's that?

Moon Pix 02-02-2007 10:15 AM

Every now and again rock n' roll ends up on its death bed and most of the time it asks for it.

You won't see me crying about it.

The winds of change are blowing.

I love it when people start wondering what happened to music based on a couple mainstream bands.

The Unfan 02-02-2007 12:25 PM

Turn off your God damned MTV and listen to some real, honest, sincere music. You know, the stuff you've been too dumb to explore.

nice............

I agree with Crowquill in that judgeing music off of a couple mainstream bands is pretty weak. Mainstream bands haven't made any good music recently anyway. After Classic rock it all died out in the less-extreme rock genres. As far as jazz and blues well it is still alive.

I like today's music just fine.

Sparky 02-02-2007 07:01 PM

whats happening?

metallica have been around for years, they need to stop thats what should happen.

and im assuming your referring to greenday "selling out". Punk bands selling out has been around since the genre started thats nothing new, not like green days earlier stuff was that great imo.

I think most commercial bands are stupid, just like it has been for a long time. Look at the 80's.

People are watching MTV whining about how music sucks and yet do nothing about it.

Happy to help :)

When I am talking about "today's music" (at least) I am refering to the music that is popular these days. Porcupine Tree is not mainstream and yes they are quite good.

ZeppelinAir 02-02-2007 09:55 PM

nothins happening, it the same as has been for years and will continue to be this way for years to come

Laces Out Dan! 02-02-2007 11:08 PM

If you dont like whats happening to mainstream music...quit listening to it. Go out and find bands that are specific to your likings..and not everyones. Billboard music is shit.

In that case, what happened to mainstream music is overplay of certain songs creating a lack of exposure for different sounds. Its as simple as that.

MoonlitSunshine 02-03-2007 11:39 AM

Yeah, since the release of the iPod and before, but mainly when the iPod came out, it was suddenly "cool" to listen to music all the time, unfortunately, people who weren't already listening to music generally have terrible, terrible music taste, and so they cashed into the glamour/looks based bands that plague music television these days. This led to huge sales of crap music, and thus lead to the problem which you call the "decline" of music. In fact there isn't a decline, it's just that there's so much crap out there that it's hard to find the good stuff. take your time and you will.
