Bruce Springsteen

Ok, so really he's rock 'n roll, but we don't have one of those ;).
He's HUGE in my house, my mum loves him. He's had such a long career now, his 'Essential' album has three discs, that's how many great songs he has. Ok he's written some of the more famous rock songs like 'Born to Run' and 'Born in the U.S.A', but he has some quality work like 'Im on fire', and 'Hungry Heart.'
Anyone else like The Boss?

If somebody asked to name them just one album that they absolutely must listen to with the only rule being that I couldnt name a Cat Power album I could name Nebraska straightup without feeling a hint of embarrassment.

It is an absolute must listen.

I like The Boss, where has he been lately, the last tune I've heard him come out w/ is that Philadelphia song, great tune, Hungry Heart's great too

He's got a great live dvd, I think its just 'Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band: Live in New York', buy it, no dissapointment!!

I love Bruce. When it comes to chronicling modern American culture there's nobody better. There's so much to say about him and yet, I don't have time to say it all now. I may be revisiting this thread in the future to try and do him some real justice.

Oddly enough, the only Springsteen I could stomach was Tunnel of Love. Maybe because he dumped the E Street Band, specifically Clarences Clemens, and fortunately lacked his overbearing sax breaks.

Wasn't that in 1995?

Kurt_Cobain 03-06-2007 02:39 PM

That song came out in 1994. He's done quite a few albums since then:
The Rising (get it, fantastic)
Tracks
We Shall Overcome (the Seeger Sessions)
Before the Fame
Devils and Dust

I believe Philadelphia actually came out in 1993, so where has he been?

Kurt_Cobain 03-06-2007 03:27 PM

I just wrote all the albums his done since then, if you read it.
