Default Funeral Doom

I've been getting in Funeral Doom a great deal recently. Very heavy, slow, and depressing. Most songs last greater than 15 minutes (with some exceptions) and feature very low vocals and haunting guitar lines. Themes are very dark ranging from death to death and sometimes death.

Some excellent bands:

Ahab
Skepticism
Monolithe
Catacombs
Wormphlegm
Thergothon

I have at least one album from all of these bands and can reccommend others if need be. Just ask

Catacombs - In The Depths Of R'lyeh

1. In The Depths Of R'lyeh

Monolithe - Monolithe I

I reccomend the Ahab or Monolithe first. They're more "accessible".

And the fact that Candlemass was not mentioned worries me.

Not really Funeral Doom. Doom to be sure, and a fore-runner, but the style is a departure from Candlemass' deal.

I have Angel Of Distress and I spin it from time to time. I screwed up the Ahab upload and am re-doing it now. Check back in 20 and grab it. It's great stuff.

Send big files the easy way with sendspace. Files too large for email attachments? No problem!

updated link for that Ahab one. The last one was messed up.

Candlemass is fueneral doom. They have the haunting riffs and everything. All they really don't have are harsh vocals.

Which is why they aren't Funeral Doom.

I'm not just splitting hairs here. The guitar riffs don't really count either. They're closer to Electric Wizard than any Funeral Doom band. Go to Ahab's myspace, or get at me online and I'll send you a sampler or some actual Funeral Doom.
