I don't respect your beliefs. Listen to devil music or get the fuck out.

but anywho, I started listening to some Led Zeppelin and similar bands through Pandora (which i'm assuming most people here are pretty familiar with). But then while looking into the history of Led Zep while bored, i learned of their ties to satanic figures, and the alleged satanic references in "Stairway to Heaven" (as well as the claims about it being played backward). from then on i had a hard time finding bands who didn't have some sort of satanic reference or ties, like Black Sabbath or Iron Maiden. I mean the songs Pandora played didn't seem to solicit any satanic beliefs, and i admit, before i looked to see who the song was by i was thinking to myself that i kinda liked the song, but i just can't reconcile listening to bands that are about that.

I'm sure someone else here has faced a similar dilemma. I like Led Zep's sound, but i could do without the satanic undertones. any resources that could help me figure out which bands to steer clear of?

For a start, unless the music manifestly and EXPRESSLY supports and promotes Satanism, devil worship or whatever... you really have no way of knowing what it was the writer/s really intended. So you don't really have to think about that or read up on it, as most of what you'll come across is merely speculation anyway.

Furthermore, just because a song has the WORD "Satan" in it doesn't necessitate that the song is "Satanic" or promoting satan or whatever. It could be talking about any one of thousands of possible topics that might involve some discussion or minor mention of the devil. You have to bear that in mind. Be a little more broad minded.

The vast majority of rock and metal music you're likely to come across is not truly in any way promoting devil worship. Even bands like Slayer, for heaven's sake, who seem to be speaking openly of praising Satan in some of their songs, are not really Satanists. Rather, they try to portray a certain viewpoint held by some people in the world. I mean, they even wrote a pretty popular song called Angel Of Death which speaks from the perspective of Josef Mengele, the Nazi scientist who carried out sick, deranged experiments on children at concentration camps and so forth. Does that mean that Slayer are Nazis? Of course not.

Think beyond the apparent, a bit. Bands are often just trying to express ideas through their music they don't even necessarily agree with. Most of the rest of the time, any mentions of Satan etc are in no way promotional. Ultimately, it's really down to how YOU as a person are prepared to think about the matter. If you deny yourself the enjoyment of listening to music you actually like based off of the possibility that it MIGHT, just MIGHT have something to do with promoting Satan, then that's a great pity for you, man.

Having the right doesn't make it a good idea.

Haha you think rock music is satanic. You are ignorant to a huggeeeee part of music. The fact that you even made this thread shows you don't know much of the world around you. Sure you have opinions. Good for you. Keep it up. But maybe try logic a bit? It helps.

I didn't say that all rock is satanic. in fact if you read one of my posts on the first page, i say that i think it isn't all satanic. in the subject i was paraphrasing, and in my post, I specified that in my research, those bands were satanic and i was trying to find bands with a similar sound that weren't.

What about this thread says that i don't know much about the world around me?

and who's to say you know so much? your post doesn't even make sense. what do i need to "try logic" for? perhaps you need to examine your own logic. if i think that "rock music is satanic", to quote you, then why would i be listening to any rock in the first place if it disagrees with me? perhaps you should try actually reading the post rather than just reading the subject and posting. maybe try reading a bit? It helps.

Tooth and Nail is a christian label that released contemporary music, no idea if you're in to the sort of thing they put out i'm not but still worth checking out.
