After all Christians are supposed to be "little Christs" in that we follow his ways and try to show others what he is about. We do not have to do this through music and we can simply glorify him at concerts and/or interviews and stuff like that.

I don't think Jesus even cares about music because God was on his mind 24/7 when he was on Earth waiting to be crucified. I f he did I don't think he would like the music anyways seeing that I still haven't found a talented Christian rock band. Skillet is the only band that is starting to step up, though I still won't consider them good. I listen to absolutely no Christian rock. I think if Christian bands really want to get people to appreciate them, then they should create their own genre and stop ripping people off. Also, any TRUE music listener would not care whether they were talking about Christ or not and instead they would care about the content of the music.
I actually agree wirth most of that.

For me it's a matter of personal bias, I've spent a good deal of my life with Baptists, Evangelicals and Penticostals. So you can say that my negative opinions on Christianity are influenced by that.

Some Baptists can especially be pretty obnoxious, they dictated me over everything, my appearance, my sense of humor, my taste in music, my political points of view, etc. I eventually stopped going to Church, I came to the conclusion that if there is a god, he wouldn't be so cruel as in to make it a obligation for me to spend such a great deal of my time with assh*les who use the word of god to promote ignorance.

I know there are good christians, but so so so sooooooooo many people who call themselves Christian are such douchebags.

people often have phobias or dislikes that others don't understand. for example, i knew a girl who was deathly afraid of syrup. she had this idea that if there was syrup near her, it would somehow get in her hair, and this terrified her. now to you and me, this sounds silly. how in the world, could syrup get in your hair if you're being careful? but to her it was a very real and rational concern. was she mentally handicapped, or just not very bright? not at all, she's one of the most intelligent people i've ever met.

same goes for this thread. my aversion to occult and satanic references in music may seem naive or irrational to you, but to me it's a concern, and because you can't understand it or think it's trivial doesn't make me oblivious to the world around me.
That doesn't make sense. Having a phobia is one thing....so you have a phobia of satantic rock to the point where you look for examples of it in anything you listen to? You need help yo haha. That's fuckin nuts.

where did I say i had a phobia of satanic rock? i was using the phobia thing as an example.

to quote myself: "my aversion to occult and satanic references in music". an "aversion" is much different than a phobia.

Yeah seriously, from what i've heard about most "satanic" songs its more like parents just trying to get music they dislike banned by saying it contains some kind of message backwards.

This reminds me of the time I showed my mom the song "hooker with a penis" by Tool and she flipped out. I was like, "Mom, you don't even know the true meaning."

Just as one can be a fan of God's previous works but disapprove of his current direction. One can hope that God gets back on track and thus follow him while having grounds to commit blasphemy.
What are you talking about? If you like God's previous works then you believe he is perfect. If you believe he is perfect then you believe his actions must be perfect. Therefore everything about God is perfect.
