Suggest some bands....

I need some new music to listen to.

I mostly like thrash metal and death metal..

Some bands I really like are:

Pantera
Guns N Roses
Metallica
Lamb of God
Megadeth
Judas Priest
Black Sabbath

Any Suggestions?

jackhammer 06-08-2007 12:47 PM

Mastodon
Death
Obituary
Gojira
Dream Theatre
Fear Factory

That's just a quick few that will be easy to find if you look around!

Definitely should check out Dying Fetus and Nile.

Unearth is great if you're into breakdowns. For me, it's good car music.

Noumenon 06-08-2007 09:47 PM

Soilwork - best metal band of the 00's, in my opinion
Nevermore - they keep getting heavier and thrashier with each release
early Iced Earth - they started out thrash before turning into power metal. their live album Alive in Athens is especially good
Mnemic - kinda like a mix between soilwork and fear factory
At the Gates - slaughter of the soul
the Haunted - former members of At the Gates
Machine Head - Burn My Eyes - a classic album
Sepultura
Meshuggah - complex, very brutal
Strapping Young Lad - most insane metal ever

Danny 06-08-2007 10:00 PM

I don't like strapping young lad at all....

DearJenny 06-08-2007 10:52 PM

Blind Guardian
Lordi
Pain of Salvation
Sonata Arctica

And, being from Michigan, DEFINATELY check out Miles Beyond from Flint and Rhyoma from Waterford. I saw Miles Beyond at a concert last year and talked to the guys after the concert, they are really good. Rhyoma is a friends band but they are also five amazing musicians. They are death metal though.

"WHAT THE **** WAS THAT?! I'M BEING COMPLETELY RATIONAL! I'M NOT YELLING!" I dunno why, but some of Devin's lyrics crack me up.

Ah well, to each his own.

I can't put my finger on it but I just really don't like them.....maybe it's because the music sounds all muffled or something...I personally just don't find them that talented...I don't like the singer....the drummer seems good but the music doesn't sound like they use seperation....doesn't all go well together in my opinion...

I much prefered ST.VITUS DANCE who were around at the same time. I like the music, but vocally CANDLEMASS sucked. I seen them supporting NUCLEAR ASSAULT and the lead singer wore amonk's habit and just looked an idiot!

 I love Candlemass' vocals - Messiah and Langquist are great! Not to mention how they now have Robert Lowe from Solitude Aeturnus.

Their older stuff had a man doing vocals. Anything before "Wages of Sin."

Carry the Cross had the woman singing right?

chumb 06-11-2007 02:04 PM

I would recommend

Parliament/Funkadelic
and
The Kinks

almauro 06-11-2007 04:14 PM

All good stuff so far. I'd add Entombed, Carcass (start w/ Heartwork), Testament, Overkill. If you like Sabbath, get into some good stoner metal like Kyuss, Orange Goblin, High on Fire. Some new retro metal bands you might like which is bluesier are 60 Watt Shamen and the Sword.

Has taste ^

Unusual recommendation...
The Isley Brothers... vastly under rated.
Delved into rock at one point with pretty good results.
Once had a young guitarist from Seattle by the name of Jimmy James play with them for a while.
Listen to some of their 70's funk stuff too.

Incredible musicians.

OldManDeath 06-11-2007 06:12 PM

In metal i would reccomend
Morbid Angel
Satryicon
Sadus
Death Angel
Also i second obituary they're wonderful
Parliament is pretty good also i like bootsy collins work on bass

Yes, it does.

A must for Death Metal; "Scream Bloody Gore" by Death. One of the first Death Metal albums along with Possessed's Seven Churches, but what would define the future sound of Death Metal.
