yeah i usually chuckle every time i hear a new chili peppers song... theyre not incredibly great but theres always some perverted/druggy meaning behind everything

Good Lord,

I just listened to Hump de Bump. I think I must have skipped over it or something back when listening to Stadium Arcadium, but this song showcases what a redundant, lame band they really are. You know what it made me think of? Old Aerosmith. Different style, of course, but the creative integrity (or lack thereof) seems to be about as strong as garbage pop metal. This is a band that is right now simply following a set routine. A purely mechanical process. Shameful.

So basically, if you're not mainstream commercial and with a worldwide fan base, then you're rubbish.

My "hatin'" on the Chilis has nothing to do with their mainstreamness. It has a lot more to do with their making bland, uninteresting, faceless music for a seemingly endless number of years now. Hell, I don't believe they're even interested anymore...in anything aside from milking it, that is. With stats like Californication going 15x platinum, they're doing pretty well on that side of things.

no I didn't say that but some of the bands that are underground need to stay underground for a reason

Just don't bother arguing this one it'll never end. At the end of the day if you bash a popular band but you listen to more obscure artist they're always going to attack you for being elitist regardless of what you say. It's the only defense they have when a certain band makes bland radio cock rock anthems.
