My vote went for Li btw, primarily because I prefer the stuff he writes (irrelevant or whether or not he actually plays at that speed, or plays well in a gig). As for people waxing lyrical about how metal guitarists have all built on Van Halen, Einstein himself used the phrase "we get where we are by standing on the shoulders of giants" and nobody's debating how smart he is; people build off the progress of others. It's how the world works. Doesn't make them any less worthy of individual recognition

point discredited to the fact that you are just merging bull**** together. isaac newton was the one who said 'If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.'

That really doesn't discredit his point in anyway. Swap Newton's name for Einstein and his point still stands strong and doesn't change at all.

I can tell from your posts on this board that you know jack **** about theory. Stop trying to discredit an amazing musician.

They are both pretty amazing, but if I had to choose one, I would choose EVH. I don't think anybody will be able to replicate even CLOSE to anything that he has ever done.

For skill, I definatley vote Li. He is easily a better guitarist, but if we were voting on who could come up with a catchier tune, who was contributed more to music, or who we simply like better EVH wins by a landslide. Sorry dragonforce fans, all thier songs sound the same, all the solos are speed driven messes, and who can say taht EVH's ego is bigger than Li's?!? The man should switch bodies with the governator jsut so his ego can fit...

No, Li does not have more skill. This isn't a subjective topic either. If you listen to what both men have written and played EVH is by FAR the more versatile and skilled guitarist. DragonForce is simple musical phrases played really fast (and it's up for debate if they can accurately recreate it live too). I even like some DragonForce from time to time, but besides the speed and some hilarious lyrics, they bring nothing new to music.

Van halen was just in Vancouver and lots of my friends saw them, said Eddy was absolutly amazing...

EVH wins for sure, great playing and dragonforce was awful.
