_-*Top Ten Bassists*-_
Hey MB,
Well i have been looking around the forums, and i have been seeing all of these "Best Guitarist" Threads and i wanted to give the Bassists some credit too. So pretty much discuss on who you think are the greatest bassists of all time. My top 10 list. No Particular Order Mike Dirnt - Green Day John Entwistle - The Who Cliff Burton - Metallica Steve Harris - Iron Maiden Victor Wooten - Bela Fleck Roger Waters - Pink Floyd Geddy Lee - Rush Flea - Red Hot Chili Peppers John Paul Jones - Led Zeppelin Les Claypool - Primus |
Justin Chancellor x 10.
|
'Bit' of a show off, but Tony Choy from Cynic/Atheist gets my vote
|
Victor Wooten (seen him live 4 times and he never ceases to impress the hell out of me)!
|
Mike Dirnt?... Jesus...
Alex Webster - Cannibal Corpse Steve Digiorgio - Every DM band ever John Campbell - Lamb of God |
Roger Waters wrote some good music, but a great bassist? mmm. Dave Gilmour played a fair few bass lines on Floyd's albums.
Jean Jacques Burnel (The Stranglers) listen to his sound on their BLACK AND WHITE album. The room literally rumbles! |
Jaco Pastorius
Charlie Mingus Les Claypool Victor Wooten James Leach Eric Langlois Steve DiGiorgio Cliff Burton Flea Tony Levin |
All of Freebass is amazing and Lou Barlow.

I'm doing a rock/metal top ten since adding jazz/funk/virtuoso bassists will complicate it and this is the rock/metal section.
Flea (RHCP, Mars Volta, Jane's Addiction, studio work, Bone-Thugs-N-Harmony) Steve Di'Giorgio (Death, Sadus, Vintersorg, Iced Earth, Quo Vadis, Control Denied, Testament, Autopsy) Geddy Lee (Rush) Steve Harris (Iron Maiden) Tony Levin (King Crimson, Peter Gabriel, LTE, Yes, 100 others) Paul McCartney (Beatles) Les Claypool (Primus) Rob Trujillo (Infectious Grooves, Metallica, Ozzy, Suicidal Tendencies, Cantrell) Scott Reeder (Kyuss, solo, the Obsessed, Sunn O))) ) Martin Mendez (Opeth) Sean Malone (Cynic, Gordian Knot), Dirk Lance (Incubus) and Billy Gould (Faith No More) just missed out. |
