Top 5 Guitar Solos

Hiya metal/rock heads, I did a search to make sure this topic wasn't around yet. I think it would be a good idea to learn of different solos, and see different peoples perspectives on soloing.

1. Randy Rhoades in Ozzy- Crazy train (live)
2. Jimmy Page in Led Zeppelin - Over the Hills and Far Away (live)
3. Mark Knopfler in Dire Straits - The Sultans Of Swing (live)
4. Tim Reynolds with Dave Matthews- #41 (Live on Lost Acoustics)
5. Jimi Hendrix - Machine Gun (Live on Band of Gypsies)

Runner up.. Van Halen - Eruption

My favorite Hendrix lead might be when he breaks out on All Along the Watchtower. I don't know how many versions of Machine Gun I have in my music collection but they're all brilliant of course. And there's that one before Wild Thing from the Monterey International Pop Festival record where he says(iirc) he's gonna combine the Canadian and American national anthems.

The guitar on Sonic Youth's Pipeline/Kill Time also really appeals to me.

I love all the one's you mentioned except Dave Mathews.

Zakk Wylde also played deliciously over Crazy Train. Saw it live back in the 80's. My favorite guitar work side by side with Ozzy was certainly done by Tony Iommi. Maybe on War Pigs.

For Page with me it's definitely Dazed and Confused live with the bow.

I also love Eruption.

Great White Heart by a band called Head of David is also really cool. So many of the Slayer leads astonish. Gilmour knocks it out of the park on Comfortably Numb (and so many others).

Oh yeah, that is great I just bought an 02 CD of Ozzy live at err I cannot recall right now, but zakk wylde plays on it,and he is sick nasty.

If you have not heard the dave and tim song yet, you should listen to it. Try to do so without any predispostions haha. Tim is a musical cevant, I **** you know, he is a god damn genius.

Lazy - Ritchie Blackmore/John Lord. You can't have one without the other on this track - 'Kin awesome.

Rush - just take your pick.
