I'd say Vol.4 was their most creative release.

I'd second that. The debut is a landmark, inspirational etc etc but I wouldn't call it creative. Vol 4 is much more creative.

Please explain?

The title track could be described as inspirational and somewhat original. I just find the rest of the album to be pretty safe, standard blues rock. I just think that if that album did plant seeds for heavy metal, specifically doom metal, then that's based on three tracks at best. The other two being 'Behind the Wall of Sleep' and 'NIB'. Just my opinion, obviously.

The debut album is let down by its b-side as Mojo stated. The b-side contains a couple of covers, some very average jamming and most of it sounds like filler.

I think on the last track, ''Warning'', is just ten minutes of 30 second samples of jamming. Not very good at all.

Dunno why, but I thought I'd be the only one to vote Paranoid. It's mainstream as all get-out, but I love it.

Always considered Vol. 4 to be one of their mediocre productions. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath is a follow up to more complex structures which became quite progressive. Great guitar work by Iommi too.

It wasn't mainstream in 1970.
