Shoegaze

the best thing ever done by anybody ever:

Anybody going to My Bloody Valentine's reunion gigs later this year?
Could anybody clue me up on any shoegaze-influenced US indie bands?
early (and recent album) Brian Jonestown massacre I know about, and I guess early Apples in Stereo were a bit more noise-based?
I love the way the whole multi-layered feedback distortion stuff was briefly a sort of nu-psychedelia movement of it's own...

edit: ofcourse it all goes back to sonic youth but you know what i mean...

Mudhoney also used to do a fairly decent cover version. It's on the b-side to some 12" I've got somewhere. I did find this (fairly rough) live version though...

This whole shoegaze / noise revival thing makes me want to dig out my old Telescopes, Ride, Thee Hypnotics and Loop stuff...

mudhoney, without wanting to be too crass, were the dog's bollocks! there was so much post-hardcore brilliance to be found in 80's north america. i met this guy through a friend who was on the whole Boston scene in the early 80's and he turned me onto alot of cool stuff. i think he was part of the whole Moving Targets circle.

Why US bands in particular? :( <3 Slowdive

There's a lot of amazing shoegaze going on in the US, and I think interest in this surprisingly versatile and important genre is growing at a fast pace:

A classic top tier shoegaze band: The Jesus and Mary Chain
check out their seminal album Psychocandy

Newer shoegazers A Place to Bury Strangers are an amazing Brooklyn based outfit.
