Theres goods and bads of both kinds. turbonegro, the sex pistols, raised fists, and the subhumans are all from europe. but some of the media has made england look like a pop-fanatic country. well so is most of america

Anyone in america can make music (most of it shudnt be called music cough greenday cough) and they hav all these major record companies that will sign anyone up ( greenday cough cough). America gets so much more publicity to its billions of musicians and maybe every 5 in one 1000 are actually good. Where as in da UK ya dont get the american "we are better than everyone else" attitude and so bands from the UK have to work for their record label. So really i think UK artists produce better bands just on a lesser scale than America. And america produces a lot less decent bands in comparrison to all the bad ones, but theres so many of them to start with that there are quite a lot of good usa bands coming thru. Its fairly even really, i just think Americas music is heard on a larger scale throughout the world so one would be able to relate to americas music more so than the UK....... And thats me, im spent.

on the whole british rock does seem to have a heavy element of pop at the moment, america is producing a lot more innovative stuff like britian did in the 90s.

dudes.

three words for the future.

The Cunning Reaper.

your right, british heavy metal is almost dead; steve harris isn't likely to do more than two more maiden albums and priest aren't as youthfull as they once were; john bonhams been dead for 30 years, so theres no chance of a zepplin revival; as for Sabbath; touring yes, albums, a big no-no.

The Cunning Reaper. Watch this Space. Our only hope.

"Whic country has produced the most number of talented bands?" would have been a better way to ask, don't you agree?

does it really matter that much????

Lets see. The big three IMO are Purple, Zeppelin, and Sabbath. They were the benchmark for what became heavy metal (although the Sabs are the real pioneers as Zep and Purple were influenced by more diverse styles). But how can you discredit bands like Van Halen. EVH revolutionized the way guitar is played like Hendrix (another yank) before him. It's a toss up. But bottom line, it all started with The Beatles.

The best bands came from England yes, but we still have the Eagles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Allman Brothers, KISS, Hendrix, Van Halen, RHCP, Aerosmith, I could go on and on. That being said, my top two bands are Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd.
