Hmmm, well, let's see. There's only about five new bands I can listen to anyway, so this should be easy

(in no order)

The Strokes
The Distillers
Velvet Revolver
Black Marsh Killers (a local band)
The Knuckles (another local band)

Other than those, I can't stand new music, and even The Strokes and The Distillers I only like a few of the songs by them.

new bands like new that we've heard about?

1. Blessed By A Broken Heart (listen to them, they are rediculous)
2. A Life Once Lost
3. Hopesfall (i've never really listened to them before last week so it counts)
4. It Dies Today
5. Turn The Circle Round (crazy math-rock band)

good list, but the distillers have been around for a while. their most recent cd is really catchy and lots of people think this is their first, but if you havent already check out their self titled and sing sing death house- their best. and the strokes are awesome- they have tons of good songs. they are one of the few out there right now who know what theyre doing

I don't know what constitues "new" so I guess ill just add in here that everyone should check out the Drive-by Truckers and do yourself a favor; jump on this bandwagon before they blow up. Try out:

Sinkhole
Hell no I ain't happy
Let there be rock
Ronnie and Neil
Guitar Man Upstairs
The three great alabama icons

in no particular order

Airbourne
Crashdiet
Dirty Penny
Three Days Grace
Fozzy

Korgüll 05-02-2010 09:38 AM

By "new" I'll try to include bands that have only come out since 2000:

1. Dragonforce
2. Airbourne
3. Chickenfoot
4. The Mars Volta
5. Skull Fist

jspaceman009 05-02-2010 01:34 PM

As far as what I would consider "new" and in no favorite order....

Alice In Chains (hahaha, the "new" version is pretty good)
Them Crooked Vultures
Flyleaf
Ashes Divide
In This Moment

saw them Sunday in Columbia, MO - amazingly awesome rock and roll show.

That being said, The Dirty South might be their best record to introduce people to them with.

My top 5 new rock acts:

1. Driving Wheel
2. The Steepwater Band
3. Drive-By Truckers (even though they've got like 10 albums out)
4. Rose Hill Drive
5. Jackie Greene

and ANYTHING Jack White does is awesome.

Them Crooked Vultures are awesome, but John Paul Jones has been making records for half-a-century, and Homme and Grohl have 20 years apiece...not really "new", ya know?

edit: the Black Keys and the Wood Brothers are awesome, too.

Carl Mcconnell 10-06-2010 04:09 AM

Shotgun Alley
Airbourne
Stone Sour
Avenged Sevenfold
Crashdiet

Necromancer 10-06-2010 07:22 AM

Dayvan Cowboy 10-15-2010 03:00 PM

The Mars Volta
Battles
Explosions in the Sky
Foals
Kayo Dot.

Woo.

Kaimon 10-16-2010 08:48 PM

I have no idea what New Rock would mean exactly...

1. Muse
2. The Killers
3. The Mars Volta
4. The Temper Trap
5. Franz Ferdidnand

But whatever.
