Eyehategod
I was on Pandora a couple of days ago, and this band came up a couple of times. They intrigued me. They're what Pandora described them as a Stoner/Doom Metal band. I'm not completely sure on that categorization since I'm only familiar mostly with the older Metal thing. But anyway, I was wondering if any of you fellas (there's no women on the webz) knew of this band and could give me any recommendations.

i like them but i cannot stand their name
i have five albums and i haven't given them all a huge amount of listening but they seem pretty similar to one another... don't think it'd make much of a difference where you start off |
Oh there are plenty of female musicbanter members ;)

Horrible band name.
|
Dopesick is the only notably good album they have. You'd be much better off starting elsewhere on your journey for sludge.

It is a stupid name, but they've got some good music.
And alright, I'll get to searching. |

Sad. Probably a fatal drug overdose (not unexpected) For the record I think Eyehategod is pretty great band name and they made more than one great record. I like Southern Discomfort & Confederacy of Ruined Lives quite a bit, for example. |
I still haven't gotten more into them, but i still don't deny them when they come on and they are among my first sludge/doom exposures (my favorite subgenre) and thus have a special place in my heart for that (also for the name, it makes me smirk).

New album coming this May. Here's a new song:

If you like that particular brand of sludge/doom/drone, might I also suggest Neurosis? They're more chilled out but the two seem to go hand in hand a lot.
|
I've heard some Neurosis and love it, mainly Souls at Zero, but a little bit from their other albums too, I think maybe even from that album. They are great though.
|
Eyehaveneverreallycheckedtheseguysout. Where's a good place to start?
|
If you dig the drone aspect of Neurosis, you might also give these guys a try. VERY difficult to enjoy, they're quite droning. Best listened to alone in the dark on the verge of suicide :yeah:
|
Oh yeah! Very SunnO))))))))))))))))()()(((()))))))) like but with more coherent vocals and infinitely more percussion. I can dig it. That crawl up the scale really reminds me of Sunn, or at least one of their songs

saw Khanate live and it made me vomit....seriously loud shit |
This thread really needs more posts.
I love sludge, and this is my favorite sludge band ever. I know most people seem to like Dopesick the most, but my personal favorite album by these guys is Take As Needed for Pain. Really stoked for the album that's coming out at the end of this month. I know its going to be a great album, like everything the band has released. |
Sorry for the double post, but this is big.
The new album leaked. Got it downloading right now. Going to give it a couple of listens as soon as I'm done downloading it. Will report back with my opinion once I'm done listening. |
