Default Rock albums: most solid set of opening songs ever?

Generally speaking, the greatest records in the rock canon tend to be front-loaded - not necessarily because the rest of the album is weak, but because the opening 4, 5 or 6 songs are near perfect. The question is, what record/s have the strongest sets of album openers?

One that immediately springs to mind for me is Nevermind. The first 6 songs are such damn great tracks that you marvel at how Cobain managed to write them all in that short time.

Discuss!

"Holy Wars... Punishment Due" is an amazing song to start an album off of.

Noticing that a lot of Iron Maiden albums are front heavy...

Not a very notable album by any means, but the first four songs on Propagandhi's "Supporting Caste" are nothing short of amazing. It's a pity the rest of the album isn't near as good.

Pearl Jam-Ten

Admittedly it is slightly toploaded.

Couldn`t agree with you more. Not only are the opening 5 or 6 perfect but pretty much the whole album. The problem is, everybody knows Nirvana and will constantly knock them............If they had been an unknown band then most people would be raving about them.

The opening salvo of songs on "Rust in Peace" are pretty amazing.

Agree with that to a degree and that is certainly the case on "Piece of Mind" and "Powerslave" but these albums like most of Iron Maiden`s classic era material, do finish off with some of their best songs. The weakest part of a lot of Maiden albums is probably the middle.

Was going to say this! Once, Even Flow, Alive, Why Go, Black and Jeremy are all great. The rest of the album is rather tedious, though. Shame really. =/
