the name of my band is cold truth, i am starting to like it but i have the feeling a lot of people will hate it (i always get feelings about lots of stuff), usually not good ones, but anyway i need to know how this name will fly, kind of a reasurance thing here, if u hate it i guess i will like it anyway but please give ur up moast, truthfull feelings about it

I'm gonna be honest.
I like the 'Cold' part of the name but I never really did like the way the word 'truth' sounds in english. It sounds so much sexier in Spanish.
And you now probably think I'm nuts. :crazy: :p:

But I like the name "Cold Veracity"

Veracity is synonymous of the word truth. So it'll mean the same thing. Unless you have a thing for the word truth then fine don't my suggestion.

veracity sounds more mysterious, mostly because it comes from latin. the thing is that "cold veracity" is a pretty long name. but it's ok, red hot chili peppers would think "the longer, the better", huh?

now when i think about it, it doesn't seem like a long name at all...i'm pretty confused here...well, your advice is a really good one, that should be the name of his band (it rules) :)

^ cold truth sounds fine, its just not catchy. but names dont necessarily have to be, i guess..

a word that can be associated with truth..accuracy, or precision...or reality, all those words are better than truth i think. veracity sounds a bit too clever. yea, "cold accuracy", i like, sounds slighty edgy which is good. "flower power tits" is a good name i think. but "cold truth" is ok i guess, just not catchy enough.

I'd like to say America doens't even have an official language and that most of the words used in English come from latin anyway.
the word/phrase 'parasol' isn't even English. It's freaking Spanish.

In any case, I like 'Cold Veracity' a lot more than I like cold truth because it doesn't feel right saying the word truth in english. It's one of those harsh words. (I absolutely detest some english phrases and or words)

And thank you for liking the name I came up with although you seem to be as 'warped-minded' as me without a nutter butter.

I had no idea 'veracity' was a clever word. I just thought it up because I was thinking about something I learned in 7th grade. And are you trying to say that it's too clever a word for me to think up? I don't feel offended just confused and. . I'm laughing. really really hard.

no insults intended. i merely said it SOUNDS too clever. now im either incredibly thick (which i really hope im not) are your incredibly clever because in 7th grade my biggest words were "majority" or "bilingual" or something like that. if you knew that word in 7th grade we have ourselves a new age einstein here. s*** im confused now too, contagious. anyway, im just saying simpler names are better in my opinion.

Thats a god aweful name. First of all, everyones going to associate you with, Cold Play, or Cold, and frankly one should never aspire to be associated with either.

Secondly, its an arrogant name, as in were the most honest band and it sounds very nu-matal.

Try to think of something regular bands wouldn't choose. Regardless of what the flavor of the month is.

^ both of you guys are awful. its one thing to be honest, another thing to be rude and offensive. the name is fine, who cares? most bands have really lameass names, but if the music is good, who can complain?

you should call it "stone cold truth" and go by"STC". but that does sound alot like stone temple pilots so maybe not.

think about it.. popular bands with simple names.. Tool, Hole, Garbage, Korn.. If you like the idea of Cold Truth, keep it in mind.. i was reading that Cold Veracity.. to me, it makes you sound like you picked a niftly little word that people would have to look up to understand.
I was in 2 bands, and we named ourselves before we really played any music together. the names sounded good, but they didnt fit our style. (not saying your band will fail cause u named it wrong)..
i was in Liberty Cry's, we couldnt decide on how we wanted the cry's.. wether it was gonna be Liberty Cry's or liberty cries.. anyways.. this isnt my post
back to Cold Truth. i think you guys should write a few songs, get a feel for the kind of music you are going to be writing, and then figure out what name you want.. but then again.. names dont have to relate to what you are playing.
If you like the name, keep it. if you arent sure, that means you dont think its right, which tells you there u should think of another one, or change this one..
when you get the name that you want you will know.

i guess it depends on how good u play, if a band were really good, i wouldnt care about the name. so yea.

i think something like COLD PRECISION or THE COLD REALITY...I think they sounds quite intruiging....I like them!!!

Reading this thread, I feel hurt.

And listening to all the hostility makes me feel so sad.

It's not about the name you choose for your band. It's about the music yuor band plays.
And I say this through fake tears, that if your band was even half as good as some of the great bands out there or the ones that existed back when our parents listened to the garbage we listen to then no one will care about your band's name. Sure it'll be at the top of our tongue but tsill it'll be for all the right reasons.

And if the name I thought up (Cold Veracity) was too big for your little brains to handle or yuod idn't know the meaning of it, then you should have just grinned, lied and shut up about it.

And for the person who started this thread, I think you should go to your garage, talk to your band and yous think of a name. No one in this forum. (at least not everyone in this forum) is a part of your band. It is your band's job to come up with a name. It makes it more sentimental.

as long as you dont sound like korn or some equally awful band, you should be fine. there are tons of amazing bands with wicked ****ty names. From Ashes Rise, Spazz, ect...

yeh i agree with Raine, u should talk it over with ur band. its not a thread sort of question its a quiestion u should decide with them....bcoz they mite not like something so u have to discuss it with them

hmm...nutter butters, by the name im guessing thaaaaaaaaaaaaat its nuts smothered in butter, then again, it could be butter smothered with nuts. WHO KNOWS?

You guys must not eat much.
This is about the 10th time I've had to explain a nutter butter.

Nutter butters are sorta like oreo cookies except they taste better and are shaped like peanuts.
In between two peanut butter shaped cookies there is this peanut buttery stuff that tastes just like penaut butter butter smothered in sugar. And that's about it.
They're these four giant cookies that come in a pack and it tastes really really good.

And that's all there is to it. Two peanut butter shaped cookies held together with a sweet peanut buttery tasting mixture.
