Corrosion of Conformity

C'mon now, these guys are badass. They're one of the best stoner rock/metal bands ever. What do you guys think of them?

I think they're pretty damn good. Are you familiar with their older hardcore stuff?

Far Beyond Driven 01-24-2009 09:45 PM

Yeah I am actually, I have a few of their older albums. I got Technocracy, Animosity, and Blind. I'd have to say Blind is my favourite, Vote With a Bullet's a pretty good tune. I'm more of a fan of their later stuff though

I've never heard Blind. Of the older albums I have Eye for an Eye, Animosity and Technocracy. I'd actually say I'm more of a fan of the later stuff as well, even though the only one of the later albums I have is Deliverance ("Pearls Before Swine" is probably my favorite song on that one). I've always meant to check out some of the other 90s and 00s era albums.

Yeah Deliverance is a great album, I've always really liked the song Clean My Wounds off of it. If you're looking to get into some more of their later albums I recommend Wiseblood and In the Arms of God. There's also America's Volume Dealer which is good but different from their other stuff, it's much more melodic and soft than their usual heavy stoner rock kind of style.

Great song! I'm also a pretty big fan of "Shake Like You" and "Shelter".

I'll have to check them out. I've been meaning to give Wiseblood a listen since it first came out.

Heh. That pretty ironic considering the name of the album.

Far Beyond Driven 01-24-2009 11:07 PM

Yeah Shake Like You is a favourite of mine as well.

I have to thank you for this thread. I had kind of forgotten about CoC in the past few years and this thread inspired my to go download Wiseblood which I am listening to right now. Seems pretty good so far.

I love their Hardcore stuff but never followed them in their stoner phase. That reminds me-I need some ups! Cro - Mags were great too although not as technical.

I prefer their stoner stuff. Some of the oldfer stuff I've listened to has been pretty good too but I wouldnt say I'm as familiar with it as I should be. Deliverance was a great record, Blind is probably my favourite but Wiseblood gives it a run for its money.

The Unfan 03-03-2009 08:07 AM

Pretty much everything they've released is essential with Eye For An Eye, Deliverance, and Wiseblood being the stand out-ish albums. Live Volume is one of the best live DVDs I can think of.

I love these guys, right up there with Acid Bath and Napalm Death in the 90's metal genre for me. I often just feel the itch for some 90's sludge, this band normally takes care of that. Great band.

Mojo 03-04-2009 09:11 AM

Acid Bath are a fantastic band. I often go to CoC or Acid Bath when I'm in a sludge mood too.
