I listened to a CD I made of all my favorite John Lennon songs from my various albums (it's not a bootleg, I ain't no pirate). Here's the track listing

1. Imagine
2. Mother
3. Beautiful Boy
4. Instant Karma!
5. Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds
6. Cold Turkey
7. #9 Dream
8. Strawberry Fields Forever
9. Woman is the ****** of the World
10. Working Class Hero
11. Revolution
12. Give Peace a Chance
13. Jealous Guy
14. Come Together
15. Power to the People

It think it's a shame that every year MTV honors the death of Tupac Shakur but barely, if ever, mentions the death of John Lennon (at least, as far as I can tell; I've certainly never seen it on there). I'm not trying to disrespect Tupac or say we shouldn't remember him, but John Lennon was a veritable genius who revolutionized modern music in innumerable ways and is a cultural icon. To even compare him to Tupac is disgraceful.

^ some would say pac revolutionized modern rap and is also a cultural icon. the comparison is not disgraceful, it just doesnt make sense because pac and lennon influenced two different genres.

How did he revolutionize it? He did what NWA did, and frankly, I don't think he had more of an impact than Notorious BIG. People say he was the "intellectual rapper" but I don't think he was more elequent or enlightened than say; common, kanye west, saul williams.

I don't know, I don't think its disgraceful, but just because alot of attention starved well-off white kids wear your t-shirts and pretend their thugs gets you "revolutionary" status.
