Meh. I don't hate them, but I don't particularly care about them. I prefer Between the Buried and me for that whole extreme metal meets prog kinda thing. And how can I forget Akercocke. That's another band you need in your life. Brutal ****ing death metal with some of the most out of this world experimentation that is infinitely better and more interesting than Opeth.

I've heard some of those names but never checked them out, and I trust the swedes to provide with the best. I had a friend who was really into Morbid Angel, but I would always supersede anytime he mentioned them with Morbid Saint, I just wouldn't have it that they had similar names. But I'll check em all out.
Wait, so you have something against Morbid Angel because you like Morbid Saint? Trust me, there is room in your life for both.

Opeth are forgettable. The songs manage to be both incoherent & formulaic.... the songs never seem to flow correctly, but instead are a mish-mash of the same old ingredients.

Hi. First post on this forum. I'm looking for some music and would like some recommendations. More specifically, I'm looking for bands like Hammerfall, Manowar and Edguy.

Thanks.

Default what are some alternative bands like Pavement, Pixies, Fugazi etc?

I'm looking for bands that have a similar sound to Pavement, (early) Weezer, Pixies, The Unicorns etc. I love how they have all have this gritty alternative sound mixed with melodic beats and stuff like that. On the other side of the spectrum, I also really like Fugazi in the same way. They're somewhat similar to those other bands except they have a more punk/post-hardcore sound. Sonic Youth or Husker Du may also be more on that side of the spectrum with Television and Talking Heads somewhere in the vicinity. Anyway, any suggestions?

I think I need some help getting into David Bowie. I tend to like artsy weirdos so Bowie should be right down my alley. Thing is, his back catalog is fairly huge and, from what I've heard, very diverse. I remember a couple years back listening to Low (which I mostly liked) and Ziggy Stardust and the etc (which I mostly disliked.) Anybody have any recs based on that info?
