Japanese Metal Core?

Hey everyone im new and i was wondering if anyone knew of any Japanese Metal or better yet any Japanese Core bands? For me the voice is an instrument and those Japanese know how to scream yea, any help would be nice.:hphones:

SATCHMO 04-01-2009 07:41 PM

Boris. well they're kinda' more doomcore, but I love them Just the same.

dj_Hcore 04-01-2009 07:42 PM

thanks man i'll look em up doom core is fine i listen to some american doom core and well hardcore so.

333 04-01-2009 07:47 PM

Would Sigh count? I don't really listen to them, but I know they're Jap Metal. By the way, can someone tell me the difference between metal and metalcore?

LoathsomePete 04-01-2009 07:56 PM

Yes Sigh would count, they're one of the best Black Metal bands I've ever heard.

Metalcore is a blend of metal and hardcore punk. They lack a bit of the heaviness that more traditional metal bands use and the vocals are usually screamed in the verses and sung clean in the chorus.

Metalcore is usually just a lame imitation of metal that gets its "hardcore" element from the different screaming techniques and breakdowns (which don't even sound like hardcore breakdowns most of the time).

Sometimes it's decent music, but most bands just blow.

dj_Hcore 04-01-2009 07:59 PM

yup don't get me wrong i love Metal (born bread and Metal fed) but i love metal core 2 so long as the "screamer" of the band isn't bad some bands have great lead vocalist but a horrible screamer.

Edit: idk anymore the changes in music from just metal and hardcore is ridiculous now, way to many sub genre's they need to just re classify them all as: Alt, Metal, Hardcore, Screamo, Emo

Yeah, I've listened to some stuff, but not enough to be posting too much about them. Probably as many of their fans are, I'm quite fond of Dr. Mikannibal. A metal, saxophone-playin', screaming doctor of science?! AND she's hot? Oh, my damn ...

Edit: Thanks for the clarification, Alfred.

LoathsomePete 04-01-2009 08:57 PM

I was gonna say Anthelion but then realized that they're from Taiwan.

All you need. Awesome Japanese Rock n Roll band:

No problem, but don't get me wrong... there are some legitimately good metalcore bands out there that do a lot more than just the same Iron Maiden guitars/breakdowns combo such as Converge, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Genghis Tron (I'd call them metalcore), and even Johnny Truant I like. They may use breakdowns a wee bit, but they at least recognize that they're not a metal band, they're a metalcore band, so they don't use a bunch of other techniques to sound more "br00tal".

SATCHMO 04-02-2009 08:11 AM

I'll take Japanese C0ck R0ck for the win Alex:

I see. I feel weird about 'genres' and musical labels. I, sometimes, feel that takes away from the music itself, or limits the musician to what kind of music they make. I understand the conflicts that will come with not being specific, but at times, it can seem like yet another class system. I've tried to get into Genghis Tron, but the album (Cloak of Love) I picked up was waaay to techno for my liking. Perhaps I need to give it another whirl. It took me awhile to reallly get into DEP, but my feeble little girl mind finally gets it. :D

I wrote an essay on something very similar to that. Basically it was whether or not music was becoming more segregated as we continue to split genres in half. Sadly I forgot to back it up before I reformatted my laptop and cannot find it anywhere on any of my old online journals.

Well, if you don't like techno in Genghis Tron, they're probably not for you. The thing about Genghis Tron is that you have to like them for what they are. They're really hard to pin down, so people usually lump them in the (humorous sounding) "cybergrind" genre or the "mathcore" genre, and maybe those are more accurate.

scottsy 04-02-2009 09:14 PM

Genre labels are just plain annoying... just tune out to the labelling and enjoy the music you hear and not give a c rap what " genre" it is or what part of its name has "core" stitched to the end of it...

KelticKalamity 04-04-2009 07:55 PM

I've yet to hear any Japanese bands that come close to being equal to or better than American or British bands (big names, anyway)

But I'm open, show me something and I might be inclined to change my mind

Good point, I withdraw my name from vote of whether or not sand sucks.
It does though.

Satchmo: As an asian, that video was just ****ing bizarre for me to watch! I've not been exposed to Japenese bands at all and though it's great to see, it's still pretty crazy to me. Good video. Is there an album you recommend?

Pobody: I hope you can find the essay. I'm definitely interested in reading it. I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way.

Alfred: I will listen to them a little more. It's not that I don't like techno, I'm just not used to techno in the sense of G.T. Most the time, I don't listen to a band because of that genre they're classified under. Now that I think about it, it seems more plausible to only classify and categorize a band when discussing or suggesting them.

csokisuti 04-08-2009 01:29 AM

I hate japanese rock, because the language is...

LoathsomePete 04-08-2009 12:37 PM

If you're a fan of The Melvins or any other stoner/sludge/doom metal then you'll love this band called Boris.
