Mayhem Festival

I'm going down to the Mayhem Festival in Atlanta today. It's gonna be ****ing hawesome.

The bands playing are Slayer, Marilyn Manson, Killswitch Engage, Bullet for my Valentine, Cannibal Corpse, Trivium, Job for a Cowboy, God Forbid, ****ING BEHEMOTH, All That Remains, The Black Dahlia Murder, Whitechapel, and Mushroomhead.

Anyone else going to this event, in this location or another?

At The Left Hand Ov God is almost melodic

I got back from Mayhem last night at about 1 AM and collapsed from exhausting. It was as extreme as I'd hoped. We got there a little late, and ended up missing Whitechapel, which was tragic. The next couple bands were underwhelming. Jobforacowboy was downright terrible.

Behemoth was the most ****ing amazing thing I've ever seen. I was right in the pit when they started playing Slaves Shall Serve, and it was chaos. I got knocked down twice. The second time, I was too exhausted to stand up, and some guy scooped me up and gave me a pat on the back before I stumbled out. I had moshed through Slaves Shall Serve and Conquer All, and I rested through At The Left Hand Ov God. Then they told us they would play a song from their new album "Evangelion" to be released in a few weeks, and it was ****ing righteous. I headbanged so hard that I threw up, and then stumbled out of the crowd and laid down.

After Cannibal Corpse (who were excellent live. I actually didn't like them before today) we went on to the main stage, and halfway there, I was still feeling too sick, so I sat down under a tree for a few minutes, and much to my chagrin a couple police officers came along and said they saw me throwing up and then gave me a sobriety test.

On the main stage, the only really good band that played was Slayer, who were, again, ****ing boss live. By the time they got on stage, I had recovered, so I resumed my furious headbanging through almost their entire performance, and got so worn out that for Marilyn Manson, I just collapsed on the lawn and slept. I did stay up to get a look at him, and I woke up for the last song. It wasn't bad; though I've never been a Manson fan.

The camaraderie there was just awesome. Metal concerts always seem to have the type of people that would be judgmental, but at concerts, all of that just seems to vanish and it's like everyone is your friend. After the show was over, this guy who was very clearly drunk stumbled up to me and said "Didja have a good time?"
"Hell yeah, it was ****in' amazing. 'Specially Behemoth."
"Oh, I had a great time with Behemoth, those black-and-white-painted mother****ers."
"That mosh pit was crazy."
"Yeah! I thought that was where I saw you!"
Then he started walking away.
"Just remember, when you're fallin', always try to hit someone on the way down, at least one, cause..."
And then he turned around and laughed.
"Cause they'll pick you right back up."
