Ozzy Osbourne 2002 CD remasters
 

Hi, I'm new here (this is my 1st post!)

I have read over at Amazon.com that the 2002 24 bit remasters of Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madnan have been re-recorded, not just remastered. I've just recently (yesterday, in fact) listened to the old 1995 22 bit remaster that has supposedly not been messed with, but haven't really listened to all of them, only the 1st song, Over the Mountain, but I couldn't really tell the difference between that and the re-recorded version with Robert Trujillo on bass and Mike Bordin on drums replacing Bob Daisley (bass) and Lee Kerslake (drums).

Now, looking in the notes on the 1995 remastering I found something I don't know what to make of: Rudy Sarzo on bass and Tommy Aldridge on drums. Anyone know what's going on with these CD remasters?

Sarzo & Aldridge were credited on the 1981 version of the album as well even though they didn't play on it.

Daisley & Kerslake were not happy about it.

The first 2 albums re-recorded? Shudder. Testament did this a few years ago with an album full of re-recorded early material which sucked big time.

Suicidal Tendencies did it too. I have no idea why the hell any band would ever decide to do it, the results are always bad as far as I can tell.

I still have that S.T album on my HD but haven't got around to checking it out. The rare occasion that I have liked re-imaginings of old material is on Whitesnakes 1987 and yeah I do like the album :p:

What was re-imagined about that? Not the whole album I hope because I confess I secretly like that one as well. :yikes:

I have just one thing to say about that ST album: avoid.

Crying In The Rain was an older track. Here I Go Again (bonus Track) was too.





Ignoring that stupid voiceover at the start.

Crazy! I had no idea about either of those. And I also had no idea that, apparently, "Here I Go Again" was bonus track on the UK version of Whitesnake. Over here it was the fourth track on the album and I think it was the biggest hit off of it.

Not that people like them much, but Twisted Sister also rerecorded their entire Stay Hungry (originally from 1984) album 5 years ago .. It's like being your own cover band :p:

The "cover album" is called Still Hungry. Ugh.

Why? Why the hell would anyone do such a thing? :banghead:
