Do you think you just don't like Springsteen? The Boss is class-struggle music. It's not for everyone.

I don't know if I'd say they did it to an embarrassing extent (maybe if you don't like him, it could be) Sam's Town was a pretty solid record. And they've had a few hits off most albums. I don't think they're going to be the Rolling Stones, but they're an above average rock band.

According to Pitchfork, which is just an exhausting rag, there's a few option if you can get through the critics clear distaste.

To me I didn't think it was a Springsteen song (haven't caught the album yet) but a lot closer to some of the 90s bands I listened to - can't place it yet.

Did you like the album? Now that you've given Springsteen a fair shake?

Nope, sounded like low rent Springsteen to me. Definitely a step backwards.

Sigh...

Anyway, I listened to the album. It's a lot of Nebraska from Springsteen and shades of Joshua Tree from U2.

I meant to say, if you wanted a Springsteen-influenced band that's less transparent about it, I love a lot of what the Hold Steady puts out, and the horns/organ combo from 70's Bruce is laced throughout their albums.
