Poison are not remotely classic rock, whereas Guns n Roses could be seen as classic rock as they are household name.

Guns n Roses to be honest were head and shoulders above the rest of the hair metal brigade but then again that wasn`t much of an achievement. They have some great albums, but the handful of albums that they`ve managed to put out in the last 25 years is a poor amount. Despite the group having "the hard rock image", Axl Rose is a lousy singer.

Poison were indeed laughably bad, though I do have to confess I like a few of their songs for nostalgic reasons. Guns n Roses were one of the only bands of that era to actually transcend the genre IMO and they released two classic albums.

I do find it interesting that you had a problem labeling Badmotorfinger as "classic" yet credit GnR with two such releases...

I always liked "Paradise City" (from 'Appetite for Destruction'). Nothing wrong with it

Why is that interesting? Badmotorfinger isn't a good album so, not surprisingly, I don't consider it a "classic". Seems pretty simple to me.

Guns N' Roses had one classic album, two very mediocre ones, and one ****ing terrible one. Appetite for Destruction is the only one with any "classic" qualities.

Badmotorfinger is a great album, I would definitely condier it essential.

The term 'classic' is subjective, but I consider it to be one.

I think Use Your Illusion II is as good or nearly as good as Appetite. I do agree that the rest of GnR's output is extremely spotty though.

Okay. I disagree though. To me it's a very "meh" album. V&F just has this weird notion that it's somehow an indisputable fact that Badmotorfinger is amazing. I'm pretty sure he thinks I'm just being difficult or something for never having been impressed by it.

I just think if you look at that time, the grunge movement. Essential albums would be Nevermind, Ten, Dirt, and Badmotorfinger.Those would be the 4 albums I would give someone if they had never heard grunge. Pretty good company to be in.
