Here's my online friend's review of last night's Chicago show:

Show started promptly at midnight, and they ripped through about 80 minutes of original material with next to no ****ing around. Amazing opportunity to be reminded what a beast Grohl is on the drums and the rhythm he and John Paul Jones laid out was amazing. Josh Homme was sharper, less sludgy, sounding than on of the Queens stuff and carried lead vocals the entire show. It's hard to talk in depth about a show that was entirely unreleased material, but the potential this album has it very high, even with the added burden of being a 'supergroup' there is some serious potential for the album to be a nasty little evil rock record.

I should also add, one of the best parts about the show was how much fun they were obviously having, JPJ almost more than anyone else seemed to really be getting a kick out of the night.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

Sounds awesome. Can't wait to hear some of their music.
Yeah, some people forget Dave Grohl is one hell of a drummer and is regarded as one of the most influential drummers of the 90s by some. Love to see him play.

Hmmmm, yeah, its funny when people lay down stupid criticisms and accusations based on no knowledge.... and then wind up looking ignorant and stupid!

so apparently Alain Johannes is playing along with the group. why he never got mentionned before that first show is rather boggling. it's not like he's a no name (although criminally underrated)

awesome or not the advanced hype made it sound like this new group was going to be a return to old school power trio rock and instead it's just another group that went ahead and bit off more in the studio than it could chew on stage.

i'll still be keeping an ear open but at this point i'm starting to expect the stoner rock version of zwan.

OMG! TCV are playing the Melkweg tomorrow night over here in Amsterdam. Ticket sale starts at 18.00 at the venue's box office. Damned! I think I can be there at 17.45 earliest. Pretty much no chance I'm afraid. Of course I'll give it a try.

well let's see....

it's a 1500 seater as opposed to a stadium. tickets go on sale the day before the gig. which seems to have only been announced a day before tickets go on sale....

why would you go to the hassle of setting up online sales for 1 night for a show that's guaranteed to sell out at the door?

Yeah, I betcha they'll be turning people away from the door, so you can understand why they're not going all out to sell as many tickets as possible in as many ways as possible...
