Viking Metals a fairly common style. It's often associated with Folk Metal too though

Real early underground Black Metal bands such as 'Von' and 'Mz412' and early 'Abruptum' are just some of the bands that thought they'de get together and make some black metal all to do with....well burning down churches etc,and it was all around the 1991-93 period, and the Satanic Terrorists run by 'Euronymous' of the band 'Mayhem' who encouraged it all...(got some crazy storys of some bands we all know of touring Norway, and facing the satanic terrorists!!!)
besides the likes of Burzum,Emperor,Darkthrone,Dødheimsgard,Gorgoroth and many other BM bands that have made a name for themselves until today were all involved with the church burnings of 93,and much of there music real early stuff was inspired by the unholy fires

Alot of Black metal bands who have burned churches did it because they feel that Chirstianity was forced onto them by invaders and believe that the Paegan religions should still reign in ther respective home countries. This is why alot of bands are "Anti-Cristian" but aren't Satanists.

Also, in response to the post on the previous page, I've seen that large list of metal definitions before but I agree with the one poster that alot of them are un-neccasary e.g. Ice-Metal, I've seriously never seen that used anywhere other than that site.

Yup,indeed your right...and the thing that really pisses me off alot is the fact people still think today that just coz black metal was like that back then, there still like it now!? thats not the case anymore, its changed one hell of alot since those 'dark' early days, musicaly much better now......but hey....you either like it or you dont eh!
