Fuel
This was a band who had a couple of songs that stayed on repeat on my stereo when they came out years ago. Im not sure exzactly as to which specific genre they would belong to and I searched but didnt find a thread for them. Although they really only had one album worthy of mentioning, there were two songs on their album "something like human" that I feel were and still are very underrated and seem forgotten. Its just I've never seen anyone mention them so I figured I'd make a thread in case there was anyone else who shared the same enthusiasm for any of their songs. For those who arent familiar with them ill post a lil info below in case you maybe interested.
http://i837.photobucket.com/albums/z...nsfan/fuel.jpg Lead Vocals - Brett Scallions, Guitar/Songwriter - Carl Bell, Bass - Jeff Abercrombie, Drums - Kevin Miller Something Like Human was released in 2000 and was their 2nd album release. Their song Hemorrhage made it to the top 40 but failed to progress any farther than #30, even though it still remains one of my favorites. The album did go double platinum by 2001 however. The album also included another song im fond of called Bad Day Again. Other albums the band put out include Sunburn in 1998 with the song Shimmer on it, which was a billboard top 40 also. In 2003 they released Natural Selection. The band went through its share of cliche member changes through the years but reunited in 2010 and made the announcment. The band hasnt released anything else as of yet or announced any plans for touring. Although they never established themselves as super stars or acheived a multitude of hit albums through the years. For me they are still worthy of mentioning and sharing with those who may taken an interest in them. Bad Day Hemorrhage |
They are normally thought of as post-grunge and I`ve always liked the "Natural Selection" album more than the "Sunburn" and "Something Like Human" albums. I think they suffered from the fact that singer and guitarist Brett Scallions was very similiar to Kurt Cobain which did them no favours.
I always thought Brett Scallions was an odd choice to be part of the Doors revival band as well. |

One of their first releases "Bittersweet" was more hard rocking than all of their music after, they went more pop/mainstream after that release. "Sunburn" was my favorite single by them. "Hemorrhage" was maybe their most popular song, which is actually a descent single.

Yeah im not one of those if its mainstream then its no good people. The lyrics to hemorrhage and bad day were every bit as good as I could hope for in a song.
Is that you playing guitar? |
This band does get a bad wrap. To me there kind of like the eagles. Not in sound but in that I would like a greatest hits album but there full albums are a little boring. Bad Day and Hem are undeniably brilliantly constructed songs.

I loved their singles "Shimmer" and "Hemorrhage," but haven't really heard enough of their stuff to justify buying their albums. Hopefully their recent reunion can churn out some good tunes!
|
yeah I couldn't be bothered listening to a full Fuel album but I didn't like a few of their singles.
|
Yeah that seems to be the case with everyone it seems like. I didnt notice till just recently that thats Heath Ledger in their Hemorrhage video...at least it looks like him. There were a lot of bands kind of like Fuel from back in the day that only had maybe one or a couple songs that interested me. Oleander was another one and Candlebox, just to name a some.

i liked them a lot back in the day. I have a few of their songs on my iphone, but don't listen to them that much anymore. It's a shame that they never got more popular, because they were a decent band.
