Definitely Loveless, Nevermind was ok but it wasn't the best album Nirvana released

There are tracks on Nevermind that cause the hair to raise on my arms and my skin to tingle. Then, there's Loveless, the entire album, which causes my heart to palpitate, and a fine layer of sweat to form on my skin.

I go with Loveless, because a few tracks on Nevermind feel like filler to me. Say Cobain was a genius all you want, but that album is not even in my top 25.

Am going with Nevermind.

Nevermind is THE ALBUM that got me into Alternative Rock so I have a sentimental attachment to it. (I even got the recent super deluxe re-release!) :yeah:

My Bloody Valentine? Have just never been able to get into them. Have tried listening to their stuff several times over the years but to no avail. I love the Jesus and Mary Chain and Dinosaur Jr. so I know I like stuff that is similar, but just can't seem to get into it, man.

Loveless of course. I have probably listened to Nevermind moire often, but I think I was one of those guys in my early teens who's first exposure to some kind of "Alternative" Rock was Nirvana. I now really don't care for them all that much.

Loveless, on the other hand, is an uncompromising piece of art. I rarely listen to it because I don't want to desensitize myself to great albums, like I did with The Stone Roses.

Nevermind because of the impact it had on pop music, how listenable it was, and how timeless it is.

I really should try to get into Loveless more. It's been a few years since I've heard it and my taste may have well developed in that direction.

i don't see the appeal of Nevermind at all, really, besides nostalgia

it's one side The Pixies and the other Melvins

as i've said, gimme Bleach or In Utero any day

hell, i'll even take Incesticide - it at least has its own character

someonecompletelyrandom 02-18-2012 11:09 AM

I have to agree that In Utero is a far better record.

different record.

Nevermind is a great album, but the production on it is not as great. I mean, it is in it;s own right, but to me it is too poppy sounding as well. Had it been more raw, would have been greater.

"Territorial Pissings" and "Breed" could have been improved with more rawness.

The issue I have is not with the album itself, but with the way it was produced.

"Bleach" would have been cool to hear re-recorded with Dave on drums, as Dave is a great drummer, Chad was just an alright one.

But what if one likes the Pixies and Melvins? :banghead:

Then that would make it an alright album to listen to, right?
