Did you even think to search and see if there's a thread about Metallica? I'm almost certain that there would be one and if not one about them one closely enough related that this post would be relevant. Also, no, it's not the world's best metal song. But it was their best live when I saw them.

Let me guess, you don't listen to much metal.

Not even the best song on AJFA, let alone the best metal song, and that's saying something. Certainly not good enough to deserve it's own thread. There's no other like it? It's pretty much based on the same template as 'Fade To Black' and 'Welcome Home (Sanitarium)', quiet verse, heavy chorus, some soloing and power-chords during the last half of the song. Also 'Fade To Black' was inspired by Iron Maiden's 'Children Of The Damned'.

Yes it's the most epic song ever. Very straight to the point as well either that or 'Dead' off FETO.

One is a good song, but I wouldn't even put it in Metallica's top 10, let alone naming it the best metal song ever.

I think "One" has a really great structure, it's definitely a song that goes somewhere. It's a good song, I just wouldn't call it the best metal song of all time. As others have mentioned, it's not even the best song on AJFA.

I'd go with Dyers Eve off And Justice. It was certainly the last Metallica album i could stomach. And this thread sucks to the OP.
