Man, never put much thought into it, but Mexico has so many great DM bands. Should rank them higher in Countries of interest for the style.

Cenotaph, The Chasm, Shub Niggurath, Mortuary....

Well that is a start, Gorguts are amazing. Should be in the ranks of Death or Obituary.

I listened to the Erosion of Sanity album and thought it was nothing special. I then read about the Obscura album and was really intrigued about listening to it and have to say what an album! Hell the whole thing is like some brainfuck and the technical ability of the band on that album really reminded me of some of the best prog stuff of the 1970s (even though the Gorguts did it in a metal style)

a bit off-topic, I first thought Coroner were death-metal then read they were prog-thrash so i'm still gonna get some of their stuff neways

Yeah, Try "Considered Dead" instead of "The Erosion of Sanity" then.

"Obscura" is a brilliant album that takes a few listens to truly appreciate... first time I heard it it was like... it is okay... but with repeated listens it got better and better. Long album, but a lot of technical bits and avant-garde influences. Very good album... just as I say, may be a lot to take in on the first go.

"The Erosion of Sanity" is a godo album over time, it just doesn't gel like the rest of their stuff to me. I put that one cause it is usually considered by many to be the best of their straight up Death Metal material. But I got annoyed with TEoS, seems like it was all just the same, and they had to throw pinch harmonics onto everything.

One of the best of it's kind.

Listened to the Brutality album yesterday Screams of Anguish and its another great album and the relaxing instrumental sections really set the whole thing off.

Yeah. Death were great. Great band to start with to get into the style... I like all they did. But especially "Leperacy", "Human" and "Symbolic".
