Not to troll, but I'm actually a little surprised Megadeth gets so much love on this site. I always thought they were second-rate compared to the other 4 (yes, even Anthrax who was MUCH better live). I'd never consider them for a top 10 spot, not even Rust in Peace.

Anyway, I would nominate Reign in Blood (although South of Heaven is my favorite from Slayer). I think Slaughter of the Soul by At the Gates should also be in most top 10 lists at least.

I agree with you. I've never been able to get into their albums at all, though I did enjoy them live.

I adore metal in a very general sense, but there shall always be a special place in my heart for the late 80's. xD

In regards to that, I've been jamming this sucker quite a bit lately.

Of course they're metal and 1984 is a great album.

If South of Heaven were indeed your favorite, then I think that you should go with that. But I guess that you mean that South of Heaven ain't the best, just your favorite...? This confuses me. Master of Puppets is Metallica's so-called masterpiece, most like it the most, but I went with the one that I liked most. I guess we're just different, that's all...

I didn't go with my favorite (South of Heaven) because I felt Reign in Blood was the more important album in Slayer's career (both in terms of growth for the band and chronological significance).

Anthrax was fun to watch live though. They didn't let their age get to them, and that appeared to have been the case with Megadeth. The Megadeth show consisted of standing alone--they didn't even change positions. Anthrax ran around and did crowd work. Plus Dave's vocals sucked, but then again they suck on the studio recordings too. At least he's consistent
