Asking Alexandria
Any love for these guys?
They're kind of a mix of trance and metal. Epic! |
I don't mind them. I've got Reckless and Relentless and Stand Up and Scream.
Stand Up and Scream is probably the one I prefer over the two, plus it's the first album I heard from them that would help me form a decent opinion about them. It's more of an interesting mix of electronica and screamo, which isn't bad, considering they do it in a very subtle way that seems to work very well. |
I only got into them after hearing Reckless & Relentless,
I didn't know too much about them before, but I'm glad I've been able to listen to them because I've been looking back at their older albums :hphones: |

I like how they incorporate synths into their music. It's not common in a lot of metalcore bands.
I particularly like Stand Up And Scream, and their song 'The Final Episode' is banging. Along with BMTH, they're another band whom I feel get a hard time and are looked down upon because the majority of their fans are major douchebags. |
^The Final Episode is so amazing. I love the instrumental track they have on Stand Up and Scream as well:
I just wish it was a minute or so longer. |
i dont like bands with alliterated names

I love the incorporated synth in metal music, to me it really shows that a band can try new things and incorporate different genres into each other. |
I really hate to be "that guy"... but this band is absolutely awful.
|
Any band whose member(s) openly likes Nickelback is not worth my time.

well based off of the music, i can say this terrible
|
Agreed, a vapid band all-around.
But on an unrelated note, Board Up the House is a frickin' kick-ass album, Alfred. |

For me personally, I love the vocalist a lot. When i'm in the mood to hear a screamer who belts it out hard, they're the band I turn to. |
I'm not saying they're void of all musical merit, but they're way too derivitive. I'm pretty jaded on this whole sound because I was listening to bands that preceded these guys and their peers in like 2007, and the sound was starting to grow stale then. Now it seems that every metalcore band of this ilk is just a carbon copy of their peers. The formula has been done over and over again.

I guess I'm not one to talk really though, considering how much pop punk I listen to. :p

Wow, I'm really necroing this thread. Anyways, Asking Alexandria is my go-to when I'm in a screamo type of mood. My girlfriend got me into them and I don't regret starting.

My boyfriend is trying to get me into them. Should I bother?
|
^ I'd advise against it personally.
|
I don't really listen to metal core personally anyway but I hadn't heard much other than their new album. I like the drumming, that's about it. |
So your boyfriend's a poser? Right on
|
I think Johnny is a pretty good singer, the band itself seems to be consisted of competent musicians...so, you'd think that they'd make music that wasn't so bland. I favor Johnny and his new band We Are Harlot over anything Asking Alexandria has put out. That's not to say that We Are Harlot are amazing, more like a step over mediocre or average.
