screaming

hey i like atreyu, avenged sevenfold,etc...even though when they are screaming I DONT UNDERSTAND A DAMN THING THEY ARE SAYING. wtf is the point of listening if u dont get the message? b4 i just listened to the music for how the guitar sounds and for the parts i could actually understand, but today i looked up some lyircs and realized that i was missing out on alot. so i was wondering if any of you people could actually figure out what they say without looking up lyrics or do i just suck?

Checkers 05-09-2005 04:39 PM

Well, no, I believe it sounds that way to most people.
However, as Kurt Cobain once said, the lyrics are the least important part of the song.

when you listen to it for a long time, you sorta just magically understand it. like, my friend jake listened to THURSDAY... and he couldnt understand a word they were saying. thursday is crystal clear to me. i have slowly started to understand avenged sevenfold and atreyu.

SnovelinggOOch 05-09-2005 05:06 PM

I used to not be able to understand anything either, but I listen to music too constantly and I am able to figure out the lyrics quite easily. Don't give up though, eventually you get figure it out without looking up lyrics. :band:

ok i love mteal just as much as the next guy..the lyrics are great i personally understand the screaming....but for some songs by softer bands (regular rock bands) ....as the saying goes "lyrics = wasted time between solos"

You're one of those people that like nu-emo and don't understand why you like it... Amazing. :usehead: like what YOU want.

David Frost 05-09-2005 07:13 PM

if you think you are missing out on atreyu lyrics, im sorry.

SlayeReyalS 05-09-2005 08:59 PM

i was able to pick up the screamin in a few hours. i was able to pick up black metal vocals in a few minutes. grinding, ill never be able to understand.

yes, Atreyu should think before they write down their lyrics.

riseagainstrocks 05-10-2005 09:50 AM

people should think before they buy their cd's.

if you don't like screaming than don't listen to it.

singing is cool but isn't as much fun live or as fun to do.

i can understand most of whats said but occasionally i have to look stuff up./ its an aquired skill

TheBig3 05-10-2005 07:30 PM

I agree.

As for the topic......some people can listen to screaming music and hear every word. When I first listened to A7X I heard almost every word. Just like any other band I woudl first listen too. You hear a song over and over and you learn the words. Screaming, humming, clicking, you hear it all and remember. Some can hear it better than others is all. :hphones:

Zao-boy 05-11-2005 07:16 AM

you should check out some better bands like of course; ZAO... As I lay Dying, Norma Jean, Showdown, Throwdown, Shockwave, Nodes of Ronvier and Synphany in Peril.

DreamTheaterGodly 05-11-2005 08:56 AM

Uh... New Zao is ok, but old Zao had some of the most terrible vocals I think I have ever heard, next to maybe Cannibal Corpse. Anyway, Vocalists I respect and think their screams are completely understandable,

#1 Howard Jones - Kill Switch Engage
#2 Uh, guy from As I Lay Dying, His are hard to understand, but he has a friggin wicked scream.
#3 I love Shane Told's scream from Silverstein... That band isn't metal by any means... It is screamo, but I love that guys scream, check him out.

riseagainstrocks 05-12-2005 05:20 AM

Shockwave blows.

best vocalist out there

Shawn Jonas - Symphony In Peril

Tim Lambesis - As I Lasy Dying

the low guy from Black Dahlia Murder

the guy from My Son My Executioner

listen to any of those bands and you will be wowed

High King Tigernmas 05-12-2005 05:55 AM

Black Metal is worse than all that emo...I can understand what they say in Black Metal, so I can understand basically anything, and if the words are so important to you, get the lyrics online, or in the cd sleeve...
But if you wanna learn how to speak scream listen to 'In The Nightside Eclipse' by Emperor, and when you can understand every word on that album you've got it...

the "high" and "low" parts are one guy...

though the guitarist occasionally contributes for some vocal parts.
