Anybody know of any good instrumental noise rock bands other than lightning bolt?
|
Some more noise goodness:
Unsane—"Committed". Definitely in my upper echelons of favorite bands. |
Zs is one of my favourite noise-rock groups. They tend to get pretty unfocused with their work, so some of it doesn't quite qualify. Here's a good one by them, where it gets noisy and jazzy.
Speaking of bands that start with Z, I might as well pimp Zu and their album Carboniferous here. Their other work is a lot more jazz and avant-prog based, and there is definitely a heavy jazz influence in that album. |

Not quite as 'noisy' as people expect on here but S.P.U.D from the iconic Flying Nun record label released just one E.P and album and then split and it's killer. This is from the E.P Sour, I haven't even heard the full length album they did :(
Obvious but essential: Arab On Radar: This album from the late 70's was way ahead of it's time but most songs on it are approaching 10 mins or longer so better to just seek it out. Prepare yourself for a weird and wonderful ride! https://encrypted-tbn2.google.com/im...tyRk4krXuzOAyw |

No Albini love in this thread?
|
this had been happening for two days and i've not noticed! :p:
i am definitely checking out both S.P.U.D. and Black Engine!!!! personally i think the absolute best example of a noise rock is Hammerhead and later Vaz....albeit Vaz is a bit more artistic in delivery..... Hammerhead are by far the perfect AmRep band :) ^just lyrically, speed, and general feel of this song is everything i love about noise rock Vaz...which is two of three of Hammerhead....has the same general feeling but in my opinion is a lot more fun and less anger although i'm sure i'll post more.....i cannot post in Noise Rock week without mentioning who are possibly my favorite new bad in the last three or four years DIVORCE |
