The Best Pessimist

I didn't know exactly where to put this, but since this is the rock forum, I figure post-rock threads would do just fine here. If it is to be moved to a more suitable place, that's perfectly fine with me.

Anyway, The Best Pessimist is a one man post-rock band, and by far one of the more spectacular post-rock bands i've stumbled upon. I've been streaming To Whom It May Concern and I Just Want To Be Your Everything for the past few days. I knew I enjoyed post-rock before, but this has really gotten me to appreciate the genre so much more. It's perfect for an evening of winding down and taking some time to relax. I don't know which album I prefer yet since i'm still in the beginning of getting into this artist, but I can guarantee that i'll be listening to the two that I mentioned more and more. It also makes me appreciate the fact that one man or woman can definitely put something great together and make it sound amazing.

I tend to be very picky about the post-rock that I listen to, there is some that sounds like it'd be played during a sunset setting, than there's some that sounds like it'd be played through an AM radio speaker of some sort. This definitely meets if not exceeds my expectations for an artist that I will turn back to. It's also something I could fall asleep to, in a good way. It's not too overwhelming or over powering.

I'm giving Love Is... a listen tonight. It starts slow, but in a good way. I've given a few songs on this album a listen on Youtube but not in full form. I also wasn't aware that this album was released in March of this year so it may have a chance to be one of my top ten of this year. I feel like this has been the year that I really pick up on a lot of post-rock albums that I never would have given a chance to in the previous years. I'm finding that i'm continuously adding new albums to my favorites and a significant amount of them seem to be post-rock albums. Definitely not something to complain about, for the simple reason that I really enjoy a lot of the post-rock albums that I have heard this year.

A few songs I really like from this particular album would be...

As I said, it starts the album in a slow pace, but eventually gets really good as the rest of the album goes.

It still amazes me that one man can make music sound this beautiful. I'm not giving bands with more than one member any less recognition, but it's just cool to hear and see what one man can do with the talent he has.
