Ki likes dat post-rock

Please excuse the completely unrelated picture describing the thread. But now that i've got your attention, i'll start this thread off with a band I just found tonight.

From their album, Zenith, I give you The Stand by A Swarm of The Sun

pg.lost also released a new album this year by the name of Key. One of my all time favorite albums of the year, especially with this little gem.

If These Trees Could Talk are killer. I'm hesitant to call them post-rock, though, because while they certainly have the dynamics and repetition of post-rock; sonically, their music has very typical rock sounds with the heavy, palm-muted riffing and distorted, soaring leads. Although, I could see them being called post-metal, in which case their placement in a post-rock thread is just fine.

By the way, I'm not sure if you're a vinyl collector, but their latest album has been released in some damn sexy variants. I own the pink/red one. :D

I wasn't too sure if I should have posted them in a post-rock thread, however I figured if i'm posting about post-rock, naturally some other genres that grow off the post-rock tree will most likely make their way in here. I do agree with you on that though.

As for the vinyl, I am a vinyl collector, and I may have to get my hands on that, colored records are some of the cooler ones, and the album art is stellar.

Sorry to hijack your thread but a lot of the stuff you're posting sounds like boring third-wave post-rock that isn't anything particularly interesting. I really dig Grails, however. They've got a neat eastern influence.

Maybe one or two of the things i've posted so far would be considered "boring", but Moonlit Sailor, pg.lost, and Cecilia::eyes are by far some of the better post-rock acts i've heard.

Yeah sorry, I'm probably being unfair having only listened to single videos and not albums. Looking back that post was pretty dickish. Anyway, titillating or not, keep up with the thread!

Glad you liked it, Alfred. Unless I'm mistaken, the drummer for Grails is the same guy who's now drumming for OM (on God is Good and Advaitic Songs).
