DESERT STORM

Currently touring the UK with Karma to Burn, I was fortunate enough to be able to catch these guys play last night and in many ways, even though KTB were exceptional, these guys blew them away with nothing but an onslaught of intense, meaty, sleazy, blues riffage.

Formed in 2007 in Oxford, England and released their first full-length album 'Forked Tongues' two years ago the band continue to gig and gain exposure, sharing stages with the likes of Weedeater and Orange Goblin and recently being featured on a Metal Hammer cover-mount, they could be gathering a little momentum.

They play a time-tested blend of southern rock and huge, ballsy stoner rock and although their album doesn't quite capture their live performance, it is an enjoyable listen. Plus, to be honest, their live show was likely too intense to be successfully captured onto record. Each instrument was beautifully easily recogniseable from the others, the sound crisp and clear while still with enough of a groove-laden, dirty blues swagger to rival even the likes of Clutch.

Much preferred the second track despite the bad sound quality but you know what is missing?....someone with some serious long hair! I know I am a bald git but when a band plays this sort of sound I miss the bass player in the corner drowning in a sea of long hair!

Not bad though.
